Whether before, after the exam, each student’s response emotions and performance are different. Some students can calm down and do what they should do, which is very relaxed and confident. Their test scores are often very good, while some students cannot eat well and sleep well, and it is difficult to sit and lie down. We often interpret it as "not good enough psychological quality" or "bad mentality", which is a very general statement. In fact, students who are prone to examination anxiety and students who are not prone to examination anxiety have very different performances in daily study and life. Students who are prone to examination anxiety often look like this:
1. Students who think "scores are the most important"
As students, it is natural to put their grades first. However, some students only have "results" during the learning process, do not attach enough importance to the class, do not actively participate in group activities, and the relationship between classmates is improperly handled. This utilitarian psychology of "only achievement" is not conducive to the healthy psychological growth of students. Their growth is "missing", like a "robot" who learns for the sake of learning. Be indifferent to the people and things around you. Moreover, students with this kind of psychology have poor psychological tolerance, which often leads to large fluctuations in grades and changes in their grades, and cannot withstand setbacks.
2. Self-centered mid-level students
Some middle-class students with medium academic performance have too high or too low "status" and cannot receive attention from teachers, which makes them easily develop a mentality of unclear learning goals and easy to be satisfied with the status quo. But their basic personal qualities determine that they will not associate with "poor families" or "lost people" in their studies, and are the "middle class" that is self-centered.
3. Students who give up on themselves and have poor grades
As the burden of learning increases, some students who have poor academic performance have less and less confidence in learning. If you don’t get care and help, after completely giving up your last bit of confidence, you will often give up on yourself and let it go. When they encounter exams, they inspire their negative emotions such as being angry, complaining and disagreeing with everyone, which can also cause their “exam anxiety”.
4. Students with pessimistic emotions, depression and negative personality.
Students who are pessimistic and always treat external things with negative emotions are also prone to examination anxiety because their ability to withstand stress and cope with setbacks is weaker than that of ordinary students. Progress in learning and teacher praise do not inspire their sense of accomplishment, while regression in learning or some unintentional criticism from teachers often undermines their fragile self-confidence. Therefore, they are more afraid of failing their studies because they are also more likely to develop exam anxiety.
