mochi red date and yam cake
I bought two large iron rods of yam some time ago and forgot to eat them, so I thought about making a yam cake. I searched the recipe under
and compared everyone’s comments. I found that many recipes use a single ingredient and look good in form, but their taste is ordinary. Therefore, we will refer to and improve the recipes we see. Today’s yam cake~ I ate it after
made it, and the taste and texture were great~ So I share it with everyone~ Many of the ingredients used in
can actually be adjusted, and you don’t have to be limited to recipes~ Just find your favorite flavor ~
ingredients
all-purpose mochi filling
glutinous rice flour 60g | corn starch 15g |
milk 110g | sugar (according to personal preference) 10-15g |
butter 10g | |
yam cake | |
iron rod yam 2 large roots | milk powder (more milk flavor, personal feeling is more appropriate Delicious ~) 2-4 spoons |
fine sugar (increase or decrease according to personal taste) 2 spoons
red date puree | |
some pitted red dates |
Steps
️⃣Total time 3️⃣0️⃣minutes: First peel yam /wash the red dates and steam them The pot begins to steam. Then start preparing the mochi filling. Mix all the ingredients for the mochi filling except ❌ butter, put it into a steamer and steam together
️⃣After 15 minutes, take out the steamed mochi, add butter, and stir evenly with a spatula while it is hot! At this point the butter will be fully mixed with the mochi filling. It becomes a soft brushed glutinous rice ball
️⃣Add the milk powder and sugar to the steamed yam and start to crush and stir. Here I use a scraper and a rolling pin to grind yam puree into fine
️⃣ Use the end of the rolling pin to beat the yam puree, as shown above. And put the cooled red dates into a fresh-keeping bag and grind them into red date puree (I forgot to take a photo here)
️⃣ (Hand flour) Take a small bowl and microwave the reserved glutinous rice flour for 2 minutes until cooked. Take part of the yam puree, flatten it with your hands, and put the red date puree and mochi filling in the middle (the mochi filling can be scraped directly with a spatula, otherwise it will be sticky to your hands)
️⃣ Close the mouth, hold it with both hands, and press it slightly (squeeze the inside) Stuffing and yam puree are better compacted) and rolled into balls. Roll a circle in hand powder and sweep away excess powder. Put it into the mold~
️⃣This series of Kitty molds are really too girly~ The yam and red date mochi cake that is both beautiful and delicious is ready~ Don’t touch her when it’s warm! Otherwise you will get ugly Kitty! (Don’t ask me why♀️) After it cools down slightly, it will become harder~
is super cute~
group photo~some of them were damaged by my hand... It is the first time to use the mold, so I still need to practice more
Break a piece open and look at the milky mochi inside. It’s so tempting!
There is also sweet red date filling to embellished the taste ~ which makes the taste more layered ~
Hurry up and give it a try ~
