1. Without empathy, it is impossible to understand the meaning of life
At the beginning of the movie, the fish monsters often eat people, and the fishermen are panicked.
The false Taoist Changxing division mobilized the crowd to perform a ritual, and then, a fish corpse came to the surface, and everyone cheered. At this moment, Xuanzang suddenly appeared, and solemnly warned everyone: The fish monster is not dead, and the danger still exists.
Xuanzang's words caused public outrage. A sister-in-law walked out of the crowd and pointed to Xuanzang and asked, "Have you ever died of your husband?" Xuanzang held her hand and said with a complicated expression: "Sister-in-law, I don't have a husband." The sister-in-law did not seem to hear her. Continue to ask: "Have you ever died a husband?" Xuanzang replied helplessly: "Sister-in-law, you believe me, I really don't have a husband."
, Come and go, seemingly funny, in fact it has a lot of meaning.
Xuanzang is a man,There can be no husband. Sister-in-law is not blind, of course she knows this. Then why does she still ask? In fact, her subtext is: My husband was eaten by the fish monster, and you even said that the fish (which has been killed by the Taoist priest) was innocent. Where is your conscience! ?
Xuanzang said "I don't have a husband" twice. He only answered the question literally, but he didn't understand what the elder sister meant.
Sister-in-law said very clearly, but Xuanzang could not understand. At this time, he is in the stage of ear blindness.
Here, Xuanzang has sympathy for his sister-in-law, but no empathy.
Compassion and empathy, although one word is different, the meaning is very different. Compassion means that seeing the pain of others triggers one's own compassion, which implies condescending. Empathy means being able to listen carefully to what the other person says, put yourself in the hands of others, and empathize with others' pain. People who are empathetic will put themselves and others in the same place and will not be condescending.
At this time, Xuanzang has not been deeply involved in the world. He has only learned the fur in studying Buddhism, but has not yet been able to comprehend the essence. Therefore, in the face of his sister-in-law's loss of husband, he could not empathize.
Xuanzang wanted to slay demons and demons, and eliminate harm for the people. He didn't know that the biggest demon in the world only existed in human hearts. Xuanzang had his own demons. That demon is that he refuses to face the fact that "he is a mortal, he has seven emotions and six desires."
2. The real growth lies in the unity of body and mind.
After the little girl was eaten by the fish monster, Xuanzang felt very guilty.
Afterwards, he fell into a strong self-doubt. He cried and asked Master: "I know nothing. Did you find the wrong person?" The master told him: "There is absolutely no wrong person, you are just wrong. A little bit."
When Master said "a little bit", it means that there is a disagreement.
Xuanzang's disagreement is subconscious, he doesn't know it. For example, when Master picked up the goose leg to feast on, he clearly wanted to eat it, but he said: "Master, we are monks, you are not doing this right."
For another example,When Miss Duan asked him to help hold the acupuncture points on his shoulders, he wanted to help but was afraid of breaking the ring, so he had to press the acupoints while turning his face. As a result, when he turned his face again, two lines of nosebleeds spewed out, full of joy.
This corresponds exactly to the sentence: I say no with my lips, but my body is honest.
At that moment, Xuanzang fell in love with Miss Duan. Miss Duan was also deeply attracted by Xuanzang's righteousness and fell in love with Xuanzang. She closed her eyes and asked Xuanzang for a kiss. This scene came too suddenly, and Xuanzang was terrified. In the end, he became a deserter of love and ran away.
Xuanzang repeatedly emphasized: "There is little love between men and women, and it has nothing to do with me. I want to practice for the great love of the world." This kind of attachment makes him change. Became blind.
In Lianhua Cave, Miss Duan failed her courtship and left sad. Looking at Miss Duan’s back, the monkey demon said: "Miss Duan has a great body!" Xuanzang asked, "How did you know?" The monkey demon replied, "I saw it with my eyes." Xuanzang asked again: " Why didn't I see it?" The monkey demon replied: "Because you are blind."
The truth is always in sight, but the truth is always in sight. Xuanzang at this time was not only blind in ears but also blind in eyes.
True growth is the unity of body and mind. Master said several times that Xuanzang was "almost a little bit", but he said that he had different opinions.
Xuanzang has been living very hard. While he is proud of being an exorcist, he constantly denies himself in his heart; he emphasizes that he has no lust, and at the same time he develops love for Miss Duan. Desire burned in his heart, burning more and more. He repeatedly emphasized that he has no lust, but he is suppressing his true self.
Socrates said: "Know yourself!" Know yourself,It is a lifetime homework. True self-identification means knowing who you are very clearly and loving you deeply. Psychologist Eriksson believes that as people grow up, they will gradually know themselves through constant choices and eventually gain self-identity. The result of self-identification is the unity of body and mind.
It is impossible for a person with different opinions to grow up. For example, Xuanzang, who is blind and blind.
3. Love can heal all the pains in the world.
Miss Duan wants to find a good man, get married and have children, and live a life of ordinary people. And her Ruyi Langjun is Xuanzang.
However, Miss Duan’s affectionate confession was exchanged with Xuanzang’s contempt. He even gritted his teeth and said: "Neuropathy!"
Does Xuanzang love Miss Duan? Of course love!
Once, Miss Duan pretended to be dead, Xuanzang held her in his arms and cried sadly. Miss Duan said ecstatically: "Don't you admit that you love me?" At that moment, Xuanzang's demons quietly retreated. For the first time he acquiesced that he had erotic desires.
On the night of the full moon, Miss Duan danced solo in white clothes under the moonlight, seeing Xuanzang almost drunk. After conquering the pig demon, Miss Duan put the Wuding Feihuan on Xuanzang's ring finger. The indefinite flying ring took root in the flesh, Xuanzang actually raised the big stone and said: "I don't want to join you, I can't take off this ring, I don't want this finger!"
at this time Xuanzang was not only blind in ears and eyes, but also blind in hearts. He loved Miss Duan deeply, but did not dare to admit it. He felt that once he admitted that he had erotic desires,It is tantamount to admitting that he is not worthy to be an exorcist. And this is absolutely unacceptable to him.
Sadness is greater than death.
Before Ms. Duan left, she held out the broken "Three Hundred Children's Songs". On the cover of the book, there is a big "love" printed on it. It was made by her heart.
After walking out of the lotus cave, Xuanzang saw a bright moon, and Miss Duan's figure reappeared before her eyes. In an instant, he felt sad.
At the end of the movie, Miss Duan died under the palms of the monkey demon, her soul turned into fireworks in the sky. Xuanzang stared at the sky, tears streaming down his face. At this time, he truly realized the heartache of his sister-in-law when she lost her husband, and truly understood the meaning of life.
From this moment on, Xuanzang no longer has any concerns. Facing the monkey demon, he meditated on the spot and began chanting. Afterwards, the Buddha appeared and surrendered to the monkey demon.
This scene is exactly what the Heart Sutra says: "The heart is unobstructed, unobstructed, without terror, far away from the upside-down dream, and finally Nirvana."
People who are blind in ears, eyes, and hearts have become truly compassionate and enlightened people.
In his heart, the love of all beings is love, there is no difference between big and small, and there is no difference between men and women. Xuanzang's thorough understanding was obtained by Miss Duan in exchange for her life. That’s why he said: “You have had pain before you know the suffering of sentient beings. Once you have attachments, you can let go of attachments; if you have attachments, you can be free from attachments."
At this time, Xuanzang finally made up the "a little bit" by himself. It is precisely because of this that he has the qualifications to go to the West to learn the scriptures.
How much suffering does a person have to experience in order to empathize with the suffering of others?
How brave does one have to calmly accept the true self?
How many roads must one travel to find the direction of life?
In the movie, Xuanzang gave the answer.
There is no perfect person in the world, and there are more people pursuing perfection, and various mental illnesses have appeared. Everyone is a body of flesh and blood, must experience birth, aging, sickness and death, learn to face the true self calmly, accept the true self calmly, and embrace the true self calmly. Only the real wise and courageous person is.
Lu Xun said that human sorrows and joys are not interlinked. While writing this sentence, he also faithfully recorded the various living conditions of his neighbors. This just proved that he felt empathy for the suffering of others. Besides, if there is no compassion for others, how can he write "Blessing".
Stephen Chow used a seemingly absurd story to tell a thought-provoking fact: human emotions are interlinked. Only when you dare to face your true self can you become a true brave. Until then, even Buddha will help you.
Actually, Lu Xun and Zhou Xingchi are the same kind of people. In their eyes, there are sentient beings. They have great love in their hearts.
