Home and foreign clinical observations and literature research have shown that people with other diseases, such as cancer, internal and surgical related diseases or chronic diseases, are more likely to cause emotional troubles such as anxiety and depression than ordinary people.
More common is that internal medicine and surgical patients find that the patients are prone to anxiety and depression during their hospitalization. Common emotional troubles may be that you think a lot, have strong negative thinking, feel depressed, and you cannot relax, and you may even have the idea of suicide or self-harm.
So, how to solve the anxiety and depression caused by illness? Professor Rong, a psychology expert, suggested that we can start from the following five points.
1. Understand the side effects of drugs
There was a patient suffering from cancer who was only in his 20s. Although he was actively receiving treatment, the cancer treatment seriously affected his work, which also changed her originally stable relationship, which made her unconsciously fall into severe depression. Fortunately, she immediately discovered that she came to the physical and mental department for treatment. She gradually got out of the emotional trough when receiving antidepressant drugs and psychological treatment. Generally speaking, some treatment drugs for internal and surgical diseases, including cancer treatment drugs, may indeed cause anxiety and depression in patients. For example, some lowering blood pressure drugs, or steroids for treating inflammation, hormone drugs or contraceptives taken by women, and their side effects may cause depression.
2. Aerobic exercise
In addition to appropriate medication and sufficient sunshine, what should patients do to solve the emotional problems that are struggling with the traps more smoothly? Professor Rong Xinqi believes that it will be of great help to engage in more positive leisure activities and exercises in life! Simply put, patients are generally encouraged to maintain regular exercise habits, especially aerobic exercise, which can promote the brain to secrete " endorphin " to make people happy to relieve anxiety and reduce the chance of depression.
In response to the concept of exercise, he also specifically mentioned, "Outpatient clinics often spend a lot of time with patients' health education and education's importance, but many people often confuse exercise with labor. Many people who exercise will think they are forced to exercise because they are for health. They think exercise is a very tiring task, and they cannot enjoy the time of exercise and the positive benefits it brings." In terms of diet, clinical research and analysis have found that EPA rich in Omega-3 unsaturated fatty acids (deep sea fish oil) is positively beneficial to improving anxiety and depression, but supplement methods and dosages are recommended to be evaluated by professional doctors before eating, which will be better.
3. Relax breathing + hypnotic self-healing
In addition to aerobic exercise, abdominal breathing and hypnotic self-healing are also very helpful in improving anxiety and depression.
In fact, abdominal breathing is the most primitive breathing method for humans. It is a breathing method that no one can teach us when we are born. However, as we grow older, we unknowingly get used to using chest breathing, and then when we are nervous, our breathing becomes more rapid, and our body and mind become more anxious and tense, our heartbeats accelerate, and even affect sleep.
It is recommended that when you get home every day, you might as well give yourself a short period of time, match your favorite music, calm down and take some abdominal breathing, so that your body and mind that have been tense all day long will have the opportunity to truly relax.
4. Pay attention to sunshine in winter. It is necessary to pay enough attention to this kind of anxiety and depression caused by illness! "In fact, starting from autumn every year, patients will obviously come to the clinics of the physical and mental department to seek medical treatment at the same time. Some patients who have not returned for a long time and have stable conditions suddenly come to seek medical treatment.
According to clinical experience and literature, winter is indeed a season that is prone to recurrence of depression. The main reason may be related to the biorhythmic disorders in the body caused by the shortening of light time and insufficient sunlight after the season enters autumn and winter."
It can be seen that people and their families who have had a history of physical and mental medical diseases may be reminded more when receiving treatment, especially when winter is in progress. They should find opportunities to moderately burn the sun every day to prevent the imbalance between the decrease in serotonin concentration and melatonin, which will affect sleep, diet and mood. Especially for people who are obviously prone to relapse as soon as the season changes in the past, supplementing with sufficient sunshine is an indispensable natural therapy.
5. Family listening + correct treatment
Once family members and relatives around them experience this kind of anxiety and depression caused by the disease, how should they help them overcome the emotional trough?
Faced with such patients who are depressed due to illness, people around them usually persuade: "Don't think so much, you are like this because you think too much. "But in fact, this kind of terminology is not helpful to patients at all.
suggests that family and friends should first act as "listener", and then further care and understand what problems a patient has. You can try to ask him: "Is there anything you need help?" "It is because of the symptoms of not sleeping well, not eating, feeling mentally worse, always being unable to get up, and not feeling well.
Replace too subjective judgment with listening and understanding, and then accompanying the patient to follow up the patient to diagnose it. Is it the side effects of the main treatment drug? The doctor advises the patient to refer to the outpatient clinic for further treatment, which will directly suggest or test it than family and relatives and friends. "Do you go to a physical and mental department or psychiatric department? "It will be more appropriate, because the judgment and suggestions of professional doctors are usually higher in patients' acceptance, so that timely and correct treatment can be given.
