In the countryside, there are many wild fruits and many delicious foods. Today I will try some of my favorite delicacies to see if you have eaten them too.
1. Banana buds
Banana buds are the flower buds of banana . They are usually the remaining flower buds after harvesting the fruit. If not cut off, the nutrients of the fruit will be robbed. Why do I like to eat? Because it can be used to make soup, mixed with some minced meat, it is a delicacy. Banana trees can be seen everywhere on the roadside in Guangxi. Whenever I go back to the village, I always find a few to make soup. I like to drink soup, so the banana buds on the roadside are often unavoidable. In addition, the elderly often say that banana buds can relieve the pain caused by stomach problems. It is worth noting that the common banana trees in Guangxi are: plantain (mostly wild), banana and Saigon banana. We mostly eat the buds of plantains and saigon bananas, which taste sweet, while the buds of bananas are bitter, really bitter.

2. Bird plum
is also called sour vinegar . It is green and sour when immature, purple-black when mature, and tastes sweet. It can be seen everywhere in the countryside. When I was a child, I often picked fruits from the mountains and fields to eat. Fruit trees are low-growing, with small leaves but dense branches. Some people also use them as bonsai.

3. Wood milk fruit
We usually call it " fire fruit ", and its fruit is bright red like fire. The fruit of the wood milk fruit tastes sour and sweet and can be eaten when ripe. Wood can be used for furniture and joinery materials. The tree has a beautiful shape and can be used as a street tree. The fruit of the fruit contains a variety of chemical components, which have the effects of relieving coughs and asthma, detoxifying and relieving itching. In recent years, some people have begun to plant them, but most of them are wild. There are also many at the foot of the mountain or in front of and behind villagers' houses. They mature in July and August, and when they bear fruit, they are full of fruits on the branches, which is really beautiful.

4. Straw mushroom
Also known as basket flower mushroom, it is a high-temperature edible mushroom with delicious taste and high protein content. It enjoys the reputation of being the most vegetarian among vegetarians. After harvesting and threshing every summer, the remaining straw is piled together. After being irrigated by wind, sun and rain, the straw pile is like a hotbed, and straw mushrooms grow naturally through fermentation. Straw mushrooms are gray-white in appearance and not large, about the size of a finger. For children who grew up in rural areas, rummaging through straw piles for straw mushrooms is a very fond childhood memory.

Straw mushrooms can be stir-fried or stewed. Cook it with lean meat or eggs to make soup, which is delicious, rich in aroma and unforgettable.

5. Wood pineapple
Wood pineapple is also called jackfruit. It is a tropical fruit that blooms from February every year. The flowering period lasts for 5 months and bears fruit while blooming. The fruit is large, long, oval, brown-green, and generally weighs 8kg-10kg. The fruit is plump and soft, sweet and delicious, with a rich aroma. The core can also be eaten after being cooked. It is sweet and soft, and tastes similar to nuts. The pineapple has larger leaves and can also be used as a street tree. During the fruiting season in summer, vehicles parked under the tree are often hit by the fruit.

There are many such delicacies in the countryside, but when we grow up, our hometown is a nostalgia that we can’t go back to. Although I work not far from home, I don’t go back to my hometown many times a year. Every time I set foot on the road back to my hometown, many memories always flash in my mind.
