Xiao Jie is a typical child raised by poverty.
Her family conditions are average, and her parents, who are elderly and young, work hard every day, and can only maintain the food and clothing of the whole family. Xiaojie has seen this since she was a child, so she is particularly sensible and never makes excessive demands, or has almost never made any requests.
What's more, her mother always said in front of her: "This thing is too expensive, we can't afford it." The family saves money every day, and seems to have become accustomed to such a life.
After Xiaojie went to school, a pencil was so short that she couldn't hold it anymore. She put on a plastic tube and continued to use it. She even used the front and then the reverse. The students would buy some snacks during the break, which cost only one or two cents. Xiaojie never bought them, and she saved all her money to buy stationery.
Sometimes, she was also very moved when she looked at those seductive snacks. But thinking about her mother's words, she could only swallow her saliva. Xiaojie was growing up and her clothes were smaller. As long as her mother found out that she bought her new clothes, she would never take the initiative to ask for them.
Once, the school formed a gymnastics team and Xiaojie was selected. The teacher asked every team member to buy a pair of white sneakers and wear them during the game, so Xiaojie stepped out because of this. She knew that her mother would not buy her new shoes because the shoes on her feet could still be worn.
A little older, Xiaojie's living conditions have improved a lot, but Xiaojie has developed the habit of being thrifty. When she goes shopping occasionally, she always looks at the price when she buys things, not what she needs.
When they were in college, several roommates in the same dormitory bought laptops because they needed to use computers for writing papers, searching materials, and collecting information. Xiaojie never thought that it was because the notebook was too expensive for her.
At that time, a good classmate wanted to take her to take the driver's license test together. The driving school was next to their school, which gave students additional discounts, and they had plenty of time. Xiaojie refused because the cost of taking the driver's license was too much for her.
In this way, she doesn’t wear makeup, rarely buys new clothes, eats the cheapest meals in the cafeteria, and never goes off-campus with her classmates. The only dinner she attended was a graduation dinner, and she spent her college days casually.
After many years she found that because she did not buy a laptop, she missed the campus recruitment information of many excellent companies. Later, she spent several times more money and time to take the driver's license exam. Because she is not good at makeup and matching and lacks exercise in social interaction, she suffers a lot of losses at work.
The main reason for all this is that she is used to being poor. It’s not just material poverty, but under the influence of her mother, she developed thinking habits such as “I am poor,” “I don’t deserve it,” and “I can’t”. These inherent thinking patterns planted the seeds of inferiority when she was very young, giving her a strong sense of unworthiness.
Even after she became rich, she was still surrounded by this feeling, suppressing her desires, feeling that she was not worthy of having beautiful things, and dared not fight for everything she wanted.
In fact, material poverty has nothing to do with it. What’s scary is that parents do not know how to nourish their children’s hearts with love, which makes them lose confidence and hope.
Parents should learn to raise their children with wealth. It has nothing to do with money, but to raise their children with spiritual wealth. Parents should give their children unlimited love, understanding and respect, so that they can have the courage and confidence to face life.
