October 10 is the 31st World Mental Health Day . The National Health Commission recently issued the "Notice on Carrying out the 2022 World Mental Health Day Propaganda Activities" (hereinafter referred to as the "Notice"), which determined this year's publicity theme as "creating a good environment and helping mental health together", aiming to promote the whole society to raise awareness, create a good atmosphere for maintaining and promoting mental health and mental health in family life, schools, work units, communities and other environments, and provide appropriate psychological support and mental health services.
Mental health and mental health work are increasingly becoming a topic of concern to society. WHO The World Mental Health Report 2022 released in June this year showed that in 2019, nearly 1 billion people worldwide suffered from mental health diseases; in 2020, when the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, the global number of patients with depression and anxiety increased by 25%. However, stigmatization, discrimination and other behaviors of patients with mental health problems are common in communities and nursing systems around the world, and only a few people can access high-quality mental health services. The report calls on all stakeholders to act to reshape the environment that affects mental health and strengthen systems that help care for people’s mental health.
In recent years, my country's mental health work has made great progress. The "Healthy China Action (2019-2030)" regards "Promoting Mental Health" as one of the 15 major special actions, and proposes that by 2022 and 2030, the level of residents' mental health literacy will be increased to 20% and 30%. At a press conference held by the National Health Commission on June 17, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Dean of the Sixth Hospital of Peking University Lu Lin introduced that as of the end of 2021, there were 6.6 million patients with severe mental disorders registered in the database nationwide, and the standardized management rate of registered patients reached 92%.
Lu Lin pointed out that since 2015, my country has carried out pilot projects for comprehensive mental health management services around the establishment of a multi-departmental collaboration mechanism and strengthening the treatment and assistance of severe mental disorders. It hopes that the whole society will pay attention to mental health issues, and some will take care of patients with severe mental illness. The treatment will be provided by the state or government departments, and many of them will be free of charge. In the past decade, more than 1,180 districts and counties across the country have carried out community rehabilitation services for mental disorders. Many patients can recover at home, and even return to society and work.
In order to further increase the publicity of mental health and mental health work and promote the whole society to pay attention, understand and support related work, the National Health Commission decided to carry out publicity activities around World Mental Health Day on October 10, 2022. The "Notice" requires that local health administrative departments organize relevant medical and health institutions and experts to carry out various forms of popular science education activities. Coordinate relevant departments, organize experts to visit communities, schools, villages, government agencies, enterprises and institutions, etc., carry out knowledge lectures, community free clinics, group activities, case services, psychological counseling, psychological counseling, etc., disseminate and popularize scientific knowledge of mental health and mental health, prevention and control measures, etc., guide the public to pay attention to and rationally understand related issues, and actively adopt scientific response methods.
The Notice also pointed out that local health administrative departments should clarify their work priorities and do a good job in mental health and mental health related work. We must continue to strengthen the construction of a psychiatric medical service system and improve diagnosis and treatment capabilities. Do a good job in treating patients with severe mental disorders, and actively cooperate with relevant departments to carry out patient follow-up, evaluation, physical examination, medication guidance, etc. We must attach importance to psychological crisis intervention and psychological assistance, promote the construction of mental health service platforms, strengthen the construction of psychological assistance hotlines, and improve the quality of service.
