Wine comes from the sky and the earth
... And from the love we have for it.
Wine is a product of heaven and earth, and it is also the presentation of our love.
—— Michel Shapoutier
Michel Chapoutier
In the world of wine, Shapoutier (M.Chapoutier) is a unique symbol.
M.Chapoutier can symbolizes the mavericks and extraordinary talents of the seventh generation owner Michel Shaputir.
M.Chapoutier can symbolize the noble quality and terroir of the Rhone Valley in France.
M.Chapoutier can also symbolize unprecedented openness and innovation in the classic production areas of the old world.
Just like the fact that Shaputir's wine cannot be summarized in two or three words, "M.Chapoutier" is not just the name of a winery. It is restrained and elegant and full of profound meaning, carrying the natural terroir and craftsmen's hearts, evoking the poetic meaning that lies dormant in the depths of life.
September 22, Meixia International Wine Industry (Summergate) joined hands with sha Putil Winery held a "Practice and Vision" master class at the Shangri-La Hotel in Pudong on the banks of the Lujiazui River. It invited close friends in the Chinese industry to experience the natural winemaking philosophy of famous wine masters in the Rhone Valley production area in an immersive way, and jointly taste the taste of time sealed in the wine bottle.
01 "Planning is for people, and success is for heaven"
3 Shaputir Winery is one of the benchmark wineries in the Rhone Valley region of France, located in the Hermitage on the north bank of the valley. Like many famous old world estates, Shaputir Winery also has an ancient history that can be traced back to 1808.
In 1988, Michel Chapoutier, the seventh-generation successor of , took over . With his extraordinary wine talent, in 30 years, he successfully formed the unknown small winery into a famous Rhone Valley terroir today, and won 47 full marks , one of the world's four major wine critics, Robert Parker, which is unprecedented.
"Planning depends on people, and success depends on heaven." Terroir and winemakers have always achieved each other. Michelle Shaputir, who has extraordinary talent, has a very simple and unique insight into the country.
In his opinion, among the many wine production areas, has no unqualified terroir, only terroirs that are misinterpreted and expressed . He believes that the appropriate grape varieties and planting modes with soil and climate can naturally wait for a bumper harvest.
Michel also believes that there is a universal connection between all things in the world , and the same is true for grapes. Sunshine, soil, moisture, microorganisms, animals... all affect the growth of grapes.
Therefore, since 1991, Shaputil Winery has been the first to transform into the biodynamic management method under the leadership of Michel, and obtained the first biodynamic year certification in in 1999.
Biodynamic method opposes spraying insecticides and herbicides in vineyards to prevent harmful chemicals from eroding the soil and killing tiny organisms.Shaputil Winery replaces chemical fertilization and manual intervention through internal circulation of animals and plants, and adopts natural fermentation of wild yeast , striving to pursue a planting and brewing model close to the original ecosystem.
Shaputir Winery serves terroir and continues Michel's terroir philosophy. From planting to brewing, every step in the process emphasizes the unique personality brought by nature.
One of the wine tasting styles in this master class, Hermitage white 'Chante-Alouette' 2018) is a good example of supporting Michelle's terroir brewing philosophy.
This wine is made from Marsanne grapes from three vineyards (Le Méal, Les Murets, Chante-Alouette) in the Emmetage region. Among the 33 vineyards, Les Murets vineyards are mainly clay and gravel soils, and the red clay gives the wine a sense of layering and fullness; Chante-Alouette high-altitude vineyards, mainly loess and loess granite , provide the wine with a refreshing and salty flavor.
Mashan is the main grape variety in the Northern Rhone Valley. It is mostly used for red and white blending. It is very challenging to use single brewing to test the cultivation and brewing level. This wine has a unique fragrance and texture, with a gentle and elegant entrance, a light fruity aroma, and a faint oak smell and bitterness appear in the fresh yellow floral fragrance. , the eighth-generation successor of Shaptil Winery, Mathilde Chapoutier, , said in the live video that this wine is very suitable for Chinese food, and is not at all frightened when facing individual dishes such as peeled eggs and Beijing Roast Duck .
The sommelier who attended the master class on that day commented: "This is a very interesting and unexpected Masan. It has a fragrant aroma, the mineral salty and freshness of the soil combined with the cool esthetic. The flavor is closed but the aftertaste is very long."
02 Dramatic innovation
In Michel's world, wine has never been a convention. He is curious about everything and tries to present a unique view of nature and thought to the world through wine.
"If I stay still, I will fall." After Michel took over, Shaputir Winery was always able to continue the past and the future. has achieved many creative moves that the winery never thought of. The most famous example is the bottle label used since the birth of the invention.
Harmitage since 1996, all bottle labels of are printed with braille to help more visually impaired people understand wine information, and named an excellent series of wines representing the essence of shaputir as Hermitage red 'Monier de la Sizeranne') , to pay tribute to the great Braille founder Maurice Monier de la Sizeran (Maurice Monier de la Sizeranne).
Michel practiced it and practiced the concept of openness and innovation. In 1993, the French Wine and Spirit Sommelier Student Organization was established to organize the winery to harvest and harvest carefully to improve people's awareness of bone marrow donation. Since 1994, 495,000 euros have been raised.
Shaputir's openness and innovation are not only reflected in planting and brewing, but also narrowing the distance with global consumers by opening up cooperation models such as high-end aviation tourism and boutique hotels and catering.
Not only that, as early as April this year, Shaputil Winery had reached an exclusive cooperation with Meixia International Wine Industry, a leading wine merchant in Greater China, which jointly presented this masterclass. In the future, Messe will represent the businesses of Saputil Winery, its Burgundy brand Trenel and Château des ferages from Provence in the mainland Chinese market.
