Chen Xiang (1806-1875), a native of Jingmei Village, Yamen, Xinhui, dictionary Ying, and his name is Dating. He is the ancestor of Cai Lifo's martial arts and a legendary leader in the Lingnan martial arts world in the late Qing Dynasty.

The Cai Lifo boxing he pioneered is a treasure of Chinese martial arts . After more than 180 years of inheritance, it has been spread all over the world and is internationally renowned. It is the earliest Chinese martial arts circulating overseas and has been rated as a national "intangible cultural heritage".

The story of Chen Xiang and Cai Lifoquan

Chen Xiang started at the age of seven and followed Chen Yuan to protect the "Buddhist boxing". At the age of fifteen, he was recommended by the enlightened master and became the founder of " Li Family Fist ". Four years later, he was recommended to go to Luofu Mountain, Guangdong to worship the monk Cai Fu as his teacher, and devoted himself to studying art for another ten years.

Chen Xiang founded "Cai Lifo" what he learned throughout his life. In order to repay his teacher's kindness, he did not add the surname Chen. "Cai Li" is the surname of the two masters Cai Fu and Li Youshan. "Buddha" originated from the Buddhist boxing of Shaolin Temple. It is to commemorate his master Chen Yuanhu, demonstrating Chen Xiang's profoundness of respecting his teacher and respecting the Tao and drinking water to remember the source.

Chen Xiangyicheng returned to his hometown and opened a library to teach his apprentice. In 1836, Chen Xiang set up the "Hongsheng" martial arts hall at the invitation of the elders of Meicun, Yuanfu Chen Gong Temple, and established the banner of the "Cai Lifo Boxing School", creating a martial arts system that combines three martial arts skills, both offense and defense, and is both rigid and soft. In 1842, Chen Xiang opened the "Zushi Hall" in Meicun, Jingmei Village, and sent more than 100 male and female disciples to establish 44 Hongsheng General Pavilions in various places in Guangdong and Guangxi. Cai Lifo broke the traditional bad habit of the martial arts sect that passed on men but not women, and did not pass on inside but not outside. From a scholar, he became the largest boxing sect in Lingnan in the late Qing Dynasty.
