On October 4, 763, an equally important missionary passed away. He was the Jianzhen monk who had traveled to Japan six times.

Jianzhen became a monk since childhood. He has traveled to Luoyang , Chang'an and other places to study the Three Collections of Buddhism. In 742 AD, at the invitation of a Japanese monk studying abroad, he decided to go to Japan to preach the precepts. However, the way to cross the east was no less suffering than to obtain scriptures in the west. The five trips to the east were blocked by the government or encountered natural disasters in .

As a well-known missionary, monk Jianzhen also caused blindness in these five failures, but his missionary mind remained unchanged. Even if he encountered great difficulties and obstacles, he would resolutely travel east, just like Tang Sheng in "Journey to the West".

Finally successfully arrived in Japan for the sixth trip to the east. At this time, he did not expect that it would take 12 years to travel to the east. During these six trips to the east, the Japanese monk Rongrui, who had been with each other, was also killed and died. After successfully traveling to Japan to the east, monk Jianzhen was welcomed into the capital Nara Todai Temple. Soon after, the Japanese Emperor , the queen, the prince and others all taught the Bodhisattva precepts through him. Since then, he has become the founder of Japan's official inheritance of the wise and is also called the ancestor of Buddhism by Japan.
