Today, Wo Thangka will talk about how to save or pray for the deceased (not only the elderly, but also the accidental death, abortion or miscarriage). This is also the most special feature of the "Sutra of Ksitigarbha Sutra". The rest of the Buddhist scriptures rarely talk about this aspect, and they are more willing to practice well when they are alive, so that they can finally go to , Pure Land or enjoy the blessings of heaven and man.

However, we Chinese are a country that respects the deceased very much. Since ancient times, there has been a tradition of filial piety for the deceased parents for three years, and we also have to pay tribute to them at all times. Even those emperors, generals and ministers are no exception. The annual ancestor worship ceremony in spring and winter is extremely grand.

These sacrificial activities, on the one hand, express their remembrance and gratitude to their ancestors, and on the other hand, they also hope that they can continue to bless and protect their families and even the country. This is also an integral part of our traditional Chinese culture.

. When someone left home, since ancient times, any family with some money usually found monks and Taoist priests to do rituals to save the deceased, such as doing the first seventh, etc. So is there any basis for this?

answer may be beyond the expectations of most senior brothers - this is indeed effective, but the requirements are extremely harsh, and the deceased of this kind of ritual can only get one-seventh of the benefits, and the remaining six-sevenths belong to relatives and families.

In other words, this kind of ritual is called "savage of the dead", but it is actually a good thing that benefits both life and death.

Next, we will introduce this content carefully and remind you to pay attention, otherwise it will not only not help the deceased, but will instead punish them.

The things of salvation are both beneficial to both survival and death, but now it is very difficult

. Let’s first look at what the scriptures say, otherwise it would be unconvincing if you speak vernacularly.

After death, the relatives are small and big, in order to benefit all sacraments. Among the sevenths, one and sixths of merit will be obtained, and those who are alive will benefit themselves.

It is very clear here. If the family members do all the merits that they have done for him or her after the death of the dead, including but not limited to the rituals, only one-seventh of the benefits can be given to the deceased, and the remaining six-sevenths will be given to the family members who handled the sacraments.

This is why generally speaking, at least seven monks will invite to rituals, because these seven people can only allow the deceased to get one person. Of course, if you have money, then the more you will naturally be better.

But there is another problem here, that is, monks who recite scriptures must have true practice, rather than just chanting the repentance sutra or the Ksitigarbha Sutra or the like, it is useful. In today's Dharma-Ending era, it is not easy to find true practitioners, let alone find seven.

Moreover, those monks have no connection with the deceased, so it is undoubtedly unrealistic to make them regard all sentient beings as relatives in this era. For example, there are many scenes in the biography of the monks in history that a monk happened to encounter the deceased before his death. His Buddha's name or chanting can play a decisive role, and can even change the deceased's last thought and allow him to improve his rebirth.

For example, in "Journey to the West", Tang Monk Tang Xuanzang once saved the father of the hunter in the Two Realms Mountain, allowing him to revive himself from hell to repay the other party's life-saving grace.

But unfortunately, there are probably too few such monks nowadays and it is too difficult to find. It is completely unavailable. Most real practitioners are unwilling to do rituals. Unless they are destined to do rituals or donors who have great merits in spreading the Dharma, they will never do these things for money.

Like Master Jingkong once mentioned that many families in Taiwan invited monks to chant scriptures and pray for the deceased. Instead, they sat outside and played mahjong. Even the monks "worked" on their behalf. This turned into a deal - monks benefited and their families gained a good reputation for filial piety. Isn't this ridiculous? This kind of salvation does not even have any merit, whether it is the deceased or the family.

Some senior brothers may be anxious - what should we do? We really want to do something for our deceased relatives, and hope they don’t live too hard. It doesn’t matter

, there is still a way, so let’s talk about it in detail next.

is the most suitable person to be the family, but some taboos must be paid attention to

In fact, doing rituals is not the main responsibility of monks, but can only be said to be done by the way. Just like Academician Zhong Nanshan is also a doctor, he will definitely not take outpatient clinics every day. This is undoubtedly a waste of talent.

The most suitable candidate for the deceased is actually his own family.

Why do you say that? Because the family met in this life because they had five fates in their previous life. In addition, they lived together for so many years, took care of each other, and were much deeper in terms of feelings and reason than outsiders, and the effect of salvation was naturally much better.

So a senior brother may ask, what should I do if I can’t recite scriptures?

This is actually not a problem. If you can’t recite scriptures, do you always recognize words? For example, the "Sutra of Ksitigarbha's Original Vow" is not too long or complicated, and it doesn't matter if you don't understand the meaning. As long as you have feelings for the deceased, make a sincere vow to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva , and read the scriptures three or seven times a day - because the two numbers, the three and seven, are the most yang energy, which is suitable for salvation.

It doesn't matter if you don't recognize many words. Just choose the middle paragraph or Ksitigarbha verse to read it. If you don't do it, just recite "Namo Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva" or "Om Haha, Weismoyah, Soha", the Ksitigarbha mantra, just like the Pure Land Sect can be reborn in the Pure Land with just one sentence " Namo Amitabha ". What Buddhism values most is the mind. If you are sincere, you will be effective. If you are not sincere, you will not work.

There are also several taboos that everyone must pay attention to.

First: It is best not to kill animals for sacrifice to the deceased. Although you may have a kind intention, this is equivalent to adding sins to the deceased, which is equivalent to the opposite of your wishes.

or in various departments, debate the results of the cause. After verification, you will be born according to your karma. In the past, there are thousands of sorrows, let alone falling into the evil realms.

Second: Every seven days of the deceased is a node, so the best effect of salvation is on the first seven days, which is the "first seven", and then the effect becomes weaker, because as mentioned above, the deceased is likely to have been born after the trial, and the latest is 7749 days.

Third: It is best to keep a fast, stop singing and dancing and entertainment during this period of salvation to show your sincerity. For example, many places also invite people to perform loudly gongs and drums, and even dirty jokes, etc., which is completely causing trouble.

or above is the part of how to pray for the deceased to be saved and blessed by the deceased in the Ksitigarbha Sutra. This also includes abortion or accidental miscarriage, etc. Although the latter is not born yet, it is already a life.

Let’s summarize here, that is, in today’s Dharma-Ending Age, there are too few good teachers and great monks and great masters, and they do not do rituals easily, so it is best for the family to save the deceased.

As for the way to salvation, in addition to normal funerals, it is best to recite the "Ksitigarbha Sutra" or some of it. If you really can't do it, just as the name or mantra of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is enough. The key is to be sincere, and sincerity will make you feel.

There are also some taboo points - such as not killing, not beating drums, and not having to mess around with any performances. These are all good intentions to do bad things.

Finally, Vothanka said something more. In fact, each of us will eventually leave when we come to this world, so don’t be too sad. The important thing is the peace and peace of mind that people should leave, not the pain. At the same time, this is equivalent to reminding us - we must practice hard, seize the time and make progress, and don’t always feel that life is long and long, and no one knows which one will come first, accidents or tomorrow.
