The following is the most dilapidated Buddhist temple I have been to when I was in Nanchang in 2018, that is Guanyin Pavilion located near Nanchang Wangfujing Department Store, Jinta Cross Street, Nanchang.
Around 2018, I was obsessed with various Buddhist temples and Taoist temples. From the map, you can see that a religious place was marked, that is Guanyin Pavilion, so I went there. Before I went there, I didn’t expect that Guanyin Pavilion would be so devastated. Construction is underway near
. I saw no one. I walked through the construction site and saw only the gate of Guanyin Pavilion, the Heavenly King Hall, and only such a small building is left.
The door is full of building materials as shown in the picture. Behind the Heavenly King Hall, there seems to be some main hall building under construction.
reminds me of those Buddha statues hidden in the museum, with only the Buddha's head but no body. This Guanyin Pavilion also has only the Heavenly King Hall and no important halls such as the Great Hall.
Guess what is being built later, why has the Heavenly King Hall not been demolished and rebuilt? Even if it is rebuilt, it will be out of place; the final explanation is that what is being built later is not a Buddhist building, but a commercial circle, because next to it is an rope golden tower and a Wangfujing Department Store, and a small high-rise residential area not far away.
This Guanyin Pavilion has actually been built not long ago. Some information can be found on the Internet.
Guanyin Pavilion is located in the southwest cross street in Xihu District, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. It is backed by Fuhe Bridge. It is the only Nizhong Taoist temple in the city. There are more than 10 nuns living in Guanyin Pavilion, with a spirit of taking precepts as the teacher and Six Harmonies as the basis. The nuns live in harmony together to promote the Dharma and benefit sentient beings.
information shows that in 1991, Shangguangxiaxue Master entered the temple as the head teacher of the pavilion, and began to rebuild Guanyin Pavilion. After 10 years, around 2010, the rebuilt Guanyin Pavilion has more than ten halls, including the Main Hall, Weituo Hall, Guanyin Hall , Ksitigarbha Hall, Buddha Hall, japanese hall, living hall , Sutra Tower, chanting hall, bell tower, drum tower and other rebuilt various Buddha statues. The golden light shines, the golden face reappears, and sits solemnly in each hall.
So now it has only been less than 10 years, and it has been pushed down. The reason is really unpredictable. In theory, there are very few Buddhist temples in Nanchang, and even fewer larger Buddhist temples. If there is no such a place of faith, it will be gone. How many people’s hearts have been cold.
You can see through the Heavenly King Hall that there is still a big belly Maitreya Buddha in the middle, and behind it is Weituo Bodhisattva . On the left and right incense tables are Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva , Samantabhadra Bodhisattva , etc. When I went there, there were people offering sacrifices and burning incense, which means that there are still people cleaning here.
There is also a portrait in the corner, which is the portrait of the old master Weixiaxin, the host of Guanyin Pavilion.
4 years have passed. I observed the Guanyin Pavilion in Nanchang through 3D maps, and I didn’t find any trace of Guanyin Pavilion. I don’t know what the scene is now.
Please ask netizens in Nanchang to take a look at it on the spot. Is this Guanyin Pavilion still there?
