There are no famous mountains and rivers here, but just an inconspicuous valley. The environment is very quiet and winding around the mountains. There is a releasing reservoir in front of the mountain gate. The temple buildings are mainly gray and there are no other gorgeous colors. The entire temple looks a lot more calm and solemn.

Miaoxiang Master

Current abbot Miaoxiang returned to Liaoning in 1995 from the foot of Wutai Mountain in Shanxi Province. He was in seclusion in Benxi's for three years. In 2000, he was invited by the local government and believers of Haicheng, and led the monastic community to Dafeng Temple. Master Miaoxiang's Sangha follows the Buddha's will, and his practice methods are made by taking precepts as his teacher, and his daily rules are formulated in accordance with the Buddhist precepts. That is why the following eight precepts and regulations appear in the Dafeng Temple:

1. Keep the precept of not catching money. That is, monks are not allowed to reserve money, do not accept money offerings, and there is no merit box in the temple, and it is prohibited to release money. It completely eliminates the hidden dangers of monks touching money and do the Tao with peace of mind.

2. One meal a day. That is, the monks only eat one meal a day and no longer eat in the afternoon, including tea, drinks, fruits, etc., except for medicines. Lay people who have the intention to become monks or protect themselves in the temple will also abide by it.

3. Walking and begging for food. That is, he travels all over the world far away from his hometown, begging for Buddhism to nourish his life, and begging for food to nourish his life. Go out and travel, and educate and save the public as you like.

4. Do not accept guests’ gifts. That is, the permanent monks do not accept gifts from outside monks. If they have any offerings, they must submit them to the permanent monks. Hi Hall Deacons should give gifts to the worship of the monk and treat them equally.

5. All offerings belong to the permanent residence. That is, all the offerings obtained by the monks are handed over to the permanent residence and are distributed uniformly by the permanent residence according to needs.

Six, three robe and bowl are inseparable from your body. That is, the monk's three robes and bowls cannot be separated from his body, and the three robes must be bad colors. The eighteen kinds of objects are items that monks must carry when practicing asceticism.

7. Don’t beg for alms or ask for help. Even if there is something to ask, it will be painful, and if there is nothing to ask for, the suffering will gradually disappear. Only by abiding by the principles of practice, do not beg for alms from outside, do not seek favors from others, and do not seek attachments in your heart, can one die in one's heart and arise in the Tao.

8. Follow the teachings. That is, according to the Buddha's teachings, let go of one's own knowledge, eliminate discrimination and attachment, and practice in harmony.

or above is the basic requirement for Buddhist disciples to practice and live together in Dafeng Temple, and is the practice principle that every monk follows for life. Whether in or outside the temple, it must be practiced for life in various environments.

The monks in the Great Compassion Temple promote the practice of Zen, Pure Land, Secret, and Vinaya. The monks can choose to practice the Dharma themselves. The monks of Dabei Temple go out together once a group trip. Along the way, they beg for food, using the sky as the earth, the earth as the mat, and sleeping in the open air. Each trip is about 600 miles, which lasts about 15 days. Over the years, they have traveled most parts of Liaoning Province and parts of other provinces, and have never stopped since 1995.All monks and lay Buddhists in the temple strictly abide by the Buddhist precepts, eating once a day and not after noon. The Great Compassion Temple stipulates that people beg for food by walking and walking, one is to abide by the Buddhist system, in order to protect the Dharma, and the other is to approach sentient beings and promote the Dharma, giving sentient beings an opportunity to do good deeds and plant a field of blessings. If you want to beg for food, you will not be able to change your family. You will not beg for food with bad words or expressions. You will only beg for food for seven households every day, not counting how many. Monks are not allowed to stay at the people's homes while walking and begging for food. They can only spend the night under trees, bridges and open air. They are prohibited from taking any means of transportation while walking.

Dafeng Temple is not taken in a penny, unlike some well-known temples in China. It is as high as tens of thousands or tens of thousands of yuan per stick of incense. Now in this era of material desires, the monks of Dafeng Temple are undoubtedly a clear stream and a bright lamp in Buddhism, which is heartfelt admiration. Master Miaoxiang, the host of Dafeng Temple, said that no matter which way of practice it is, if it does not contain the Buddha's precepts, it cannot be called Buddhism. Only by keeping precepts can you continue to continue the Dharma. If you leave the precepts, there is no question of continuation.

Monks get up at 2 a.m., ten times of the Shurangama Mantra, read and recite the precepts in two hours in the afternoon, and have four hours of rest every day. The liberation road website founded by Master Danu, five of the eight moderators have become monks, and two are under the test and study before becoming a monk in the temple. Their monks are not about seeing through the world or feeling frustrated, but about practicing their own beliefs. They stick to their original intentions and never forget their original intentions. Why do temples like Haicheng Dabei Temple touch so many people? Maybe it’s because of their uncommercial persistence.

Dabei Temple. It was originally a Haicheng-level cultural relics protection unit and is an ancient temple. The original site is located on the south slope of Tangwang Mountain, Maoqi Town, Haicheng City. The date of its construction is unknown. According to existing inscriptions and historical records, it was repeatedly repaired in the 28th year of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty and the 7th year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty. In the eighth year of Guangxu, Qu Yongchang, a fifth-rank tribute student, proposed to raise huge sums of money and repair many buildings, and the scale of the temple was unprecedented. After that, after experiencing wars and social ups and downs, the monks were expelled and no one was abbot. Later, due to the Cultural Revolution, the temple was disrepaired for a long time, and only one elderly believer was guarding it.

In 1993, in order to implement religious policies, meet the needs of local believers, and mine the Tangwangshan silicon sand mine resources, with the approval of the Anshan Municipal Religious Department (now the Religious Bureau), the Dabei Temple was moved to a central valley (Cigou) in Caojiabao Village, Maoqi Town, Haicheng City to rebuilt. The stone tablets of the ancient temple, bricks, tiles and wood in the hall, and the name of the "Dafei Temple" were all moved to the current site of Caojiabao Village. Now, the Great Compassion Temple, which is surrounded by mountains and rivers, has begun to take shape. It has now been built into a mountain gate, the Heavenly King Hall, the Seven Buddha Hall, the Great Compassion Hall, the Medicine Buddha Hall, the Sutra Hall, the Dharma Hall, the Zen Hall, the Buddhist chanting hall, the living hall, the vegetarian hall, the Yunshui Hall, the monk's dormitory, etc.

Buddhism has 84,000 Dharmas . I don’t have the ability to distinguish. The so-called phenomena experienced by modern Buddhism are right and wrong, and who insists on the Buddhism that is closest to the origin. But I personally think that when a religion becomes a religion that serves the public, pleases the public, and caters to the public, then there should be problems with this religion, which should be gradually drifting away from its original intention. Religion is education, it is about educating humans and teaching humans how to find themselves at a higher level. Some monks and the temples they manage are obviously lost in the world of money. What else do they use to educate the world? What capital does it have to spread the Dharma and preach? I also don’t know if the actions of the masters of Haicheng Dafeng Temple are absolutely correct. But I can tell myself that they are trying hard to find the source and practice whether they can find the source. Clean and focus without distractions, at least they have already jumped out of the world...
