Many people think that procrastination is a symbol of a person's self-deprecation. As long as you procrastinate, you will label yourself such as "bad living habits" and "lazy nature". In fact, it is completely unnecessary.
procrastination is a very common phenomenon. Everyone has it, you have it, and I have it. As a freelancer, I have been fighting procrastination for ten years. Today, I will share my experience with you to help you say goodbye to procrastination completely.
There will be a scientific explanation behind each phenomenon, and procrastination will naturally occur.
So, why do people procrastinate?
, essentially, is because some easy and simple things, such as browsing mobile phones and TV shows, will cause our brain to secrete a substance called dopamine .
dopamine will make us feel happy, so we can't help but want to secrete more of the brain.
But we all know that continuous lying and entertainment will reduce our motivation, and those projects we originally wanted to complete will be put on hold.
What should we do in this situation?
The reason is very simple, which is to allow the brain to stimulate dopamine in the right things. There is a better way to operate
, which is to set rewards for yourself.
For example, if you read a book for an hour, you will be rewarded with a piece of cake;
or learn two classes, you will be rewarded with a TV series.
In this way, you will establish a channel between what you should accomplish and the reward, and slowly your brain will realize that you will also feel happy when doing what you should do.
Your procrastination will be relieved.
But this is not enough. If you want to solve procrastination more systematically, you still need to use a more systematic approach.
The systematic method I want to introduce to you is called: Prima Law
This is an improved method proposed by psychologists after observing human laziness behavior based on the principle of psychological conditioning, which can allow us to quickly correct procrastination.
There are four specific steps to implement the Prima Rule:
Step 1: spend one to two days recording yourself, and record the things you want to do every day in detail;
Step 2: delete some of the things that must be completed when eating, sleeping, drinking water, etc.;
Step 3: arrange the remaining dozens of things according to your interests, put the least favorite things first, and put the last one.
Step 4: Get up every morning, start from the things you don’t like most according to the records, and insist on completing them, and do the last thing you like.
The principle of doing this is the same as when we eat cream cake . If your favorite thing is cream, if you eat the cream at the beginning, then you may not want to eat the remaining cake and will not be able to get rid of it.
But if you eat the part you don’t like to eat first, then the rest are the parts you like to eat, and you will naturally feel relaxed and happy.
Be careful about this step, you cannot easily change the order, because whenever you complete something you don’t like, or something difficult, your brain will secrete more dopamine.
This will allow you to establish a cycle that strengthens active work, making you more courageous as you fight.
Sometimes I am, for example, if I don’t want to exercise today, I will schedule my exercise time in the morning. When I complete this thing that I find difficult, I will feel very easy for the next day. Moreover, because I complete the exercise and build up my sense of accomplishment, I will be particularly efficient this day.
I can assure you that as long as you finish reading this method carefully and start to practice it, your procrastination will quickly subside within a week at a speed visible to the naked eye.
But I know that some people will definitely not really practice after listening.
But it doesn’t matter, among 100% of people, 20% will always be willing to do it. Then I can only say to the remaining 80% of people:
