I know, certainly don't think I'm important enough to be talked about, but do think they talk about me because they think I look weird and dress inappropriately.

If you look confident, sure of yourself, smile often, and talk to people, you won't get those assumptions. Confidence comes slowly because it cannot manifest itself in a few days. Think positive, look people in the eyes and smile when you talk to them. They will also feel more at ease with you.

User B replied:

They may or may not be talking about you, but what others do is none of your business. So let go. There's nothing you can do about it. Also, think about why they keep talking about you. Are you famous? If so, I feel sorry for you. Ignore it and move on.

User C replied:

Your worries may be due to low self-esteem or poor self-image.

People will talk no matter what. You can't stop and think about what other people are saying. Once, I met a man in a cafe. He was chatting with some friends at a table very close to me. I overheard the man say "It's none of your business what other people think of you."

If someone talks about you when you're not around, frankly, that's not something that should bother you. That person probably doesn't have anything bad to say about you.

User D replied:

I have spent a large part of my life stressing about making everyone like me. It's a hard thing to let go of, but the best advice I've learned is this: if you truly care about them, they will support you no matter what. If they don't, why would you want these people around you? Don't be afraid to do what you want in life and don't let other people's pressure get to you. Happiness is a perspective.

User E replied:

Do you think about other people’s lives and things all day long?

You can't do this because there are so many people and you have your own issues to consider.

Likewise, people have their own problems to think about and they don't care much about you. Neither can they, because there are many people besides you, so it's impossible to think about everyone, so most people only think about themselves. How you feel about yourself is not how others feel about you. How you feel about someone is not how someone feels about themselves.

User F replied:

That’s just your subconscious speaking. If you think they are saying bad things about you, then the bad words are what you think is your problem.

You are not special, everyone thinks they are the center of the universe, once you truly admit it, you will find that no one cares enough to keep talking about you.

Put yourself in someone else's shoes, would you talk about them? Do you care to keep talking about them? Do their lives really interest you that much? When you learn that the way you see others is the way others see you, that's when you stop caring about gossip.

User G replied:

It sounds like you are paranoid. Why should you care what others think of you? It doesn't matter what others say about you. They don't care what you think of them. So, ignore them. Don't think about it and just live your life. But even if they are talking about you...if everyone wants to brag, you must be awesome and have a great life.
