The latest data from the Taiwan Disaster Response Center reported that as of 11:00 p.m. on the 18th, the earthquake caused one death and 142 injuries, including 76 people in Hualien County, 55 people in Taitung County, 4 people in Kaohsiung City, 52 people in New Taipei City, 2 people in Taoyuan City, 2 people in Pingtung County, and 1 person in Chiayi County.

A 69-year-old man in Yuli Town, Hualian was working in a cement readmixing plant. He was suspected of being injured due to a collapse of the factory. He died after being sent to the hospital after being seriously injured. The earthquake caused the collapse of local mountain roads, and there are currently about 180 to 200 vehicles and 600 people trapped in the mountains.

Taiwan Water said that large-scale water pipes in Yuli area of Hualien have been broken and emergency repairs have been carried out. Taiwan Power said that the earthquake in Hualien area caused the feeder to jump out of power, causing 7,073 households in Yuli. There were also power outages in small areas of 504 households in Taipei City, 197 households in New Taipei City, 430 households in Tainan City, 362 households in Guanshan District, Taitung, 157 households in Chishang Wan'an and Fuxing District, as well as about 100 households in Luzhu District, Kaohsiung City and other small areas.
