Huawei showcased its latest innovations at the Munich International Auto Expo in Germany. It is a new AR HUD technology, which is an augmented reality-based system that can power the head-up display , which can turn the front windshield of a car into a smart screen.
According to Huawei’s official instructions, the new AR HUD technology will provide an informative, interactive head-up display for the front windshield of the car. In fact, HUD was originally a common function of fighter aircraft and other military aircraft, in which key details such as speed, altitude, and other key information were displayed in front of the pilot. Now, Huawei uses AR technology to provide similar solutions for next-generation cars. The brand believes that through this technology, automakers will be able to integrate new technologies, safety and entertainment to create a new driving experience.
Different from the current conventional HDR technology, Huawei AR HUD provides a large viewing angle of 13°x 5°, which is a 70-inch large display area with a front surface up to 7.5 meters. In order to keep the driver's line of sight undisturbed and undisturbed, Huawei has built a related system in the lower area behind the steering wheel. The new AR HUD will be able to provide navigation-based information, such as route distance, number of lanes on the upcoming road, and other important information such as weather conditions. In addition, an interesting aspect of this technology can also be night vision or auxiliary vision during heavy rain, low-light scenes or even heavy fog, which can also ensure the safety of drivers and passengers.
Huawei also stated that the AR HUD will also be equipped with an FHD display up to 100PPD, and will not be hindered by the low brightness, low contrast or image distortion problems that plague traditional HUD technology. In other words, it can also be used as an entertainment and multimedia tool, providing video/movie streaming functions and other real-time information for parking lots, restaurants, shops, gas stations, etc.
