Over the past two years of fighting the epidemic, Shi Yongxia and the laboratory team have raced against time to conduct sample testing. By isolating the new coronavirus strain, it has provided valuable seed resources for subsequent research; using intelligent equipment and quick detection reagents to further optimize the detection process and shorten the detection time; widely carry out a number of emergency projects such as the pathogenesis of the new coronavirus, and independently developed a mobile biosafety cabin integrating current investigation, sampling and detection in the country. Since the epidemic, Guangzhou Customs has become the front line of epidemic prevention and control, and strictly prevented the import of overseas epidemics. In this epidemic prevention and control battle, Shi Yongxia is mainly engaged in laboratory testing of new coronavirus for incoming personnel, isolation of new coronavirus strains, and gene sequencing.
For more than two years, what impressed Shi Yongxia the most was the special Spring Festival in 2020, which was the 14th year that Shi Yongxia had joined the work. "On the eve of the Spring Festival in 2020, many colleagues and I were ready to go back to our hometown to celebrate the New Year. Seeing that the situation of the new crown pneumonia epidemic in China is becoming increasingly severe, out of professional sensitivity, we realize that this may be a tough battle." Shi Yongxia said.
Teacher Yongxia withdrew from the high-speed rail ticket without hesitation and took the initiative to stay in the laboratory to complete the port testing task. On New Year's Eve, she and her colleagues were all "rive" in the laboratory, sample processing, nucleic acid extraction, machine amplification, result judgment... They focused on each link in detail and in a practical way to ensure that every step was accurate and accurate.
"It was already dark after coming out of the laboratory. On New Year's Eve that year, we were discussing how to optimize the detection technology while eating convenience food. When everyone hurriedly finished this special 'New Year' dinner' and was about to take a rest, another batch of samples waiting to be inspected at the port arrived. We were working on the intense testing work again..." Shi Yongxia recalled the scene at that time, and the details were vivid in her mind.
During the Spring Festival in 2020, after more than 20 hours in the laboratory, Shi Yongxia and her colleagues finally completed all sample tests at 4 a.m. on the first day of the first lunar month.
"Combat with the virus, we must 'catch' the virus as soon as possible. The results will be released one minute earlier, and more basis for the next step of epidemic prevention and control will be provided one minute earlier, and more support and help will be provided to patients and front-line medical workers and customs staff in the fight against the epidemic." Shi Yongxia said.
In the view of a laboratory colleague Yuan Shuai, Shi Yongxia represents a highly serious and responsible person in the laboratory work, always doing her best in doing things, and often keeps running around in the epidemic prevention and control work, solving various problems in the experiment one by one.
In addition, Shi Yongxia also participated in the design of the first generation of port mobile integrated biosecurity cabin in China.
"In order to improve the sampling working environment and solve the problem of insufficient biosafety barrier at the port, and colleagues overturned and revised it more than ten times, and our team finally developed a mobile laboratory that is convenient for transportation and covers a small area." Shi Yongxia introduced that as of now, the equipment has provided a safe and reliable sampling environment for more than 140,000 inbound passengers at the port.
Scientific research and innovation helps customs guard the country's doors
In addition to racing against the virus quickly, Shi Yongxia also finds ways to innovate in testing technology and platforms.
"We always pay attention to the development trends of the epidemic at home and abroad, prepare for the future, strengthen scientific and technological innovation capabilities, establish fast, accurate and efficient detection methods for imported infectious diseases in advance, make technical reserves, and provide technical support for the rapid and accurate detection of imported cases on the exit shore." Shi Yongxia said.
In epidemic prevention and control, Shi Yongxia deeply understands the important role of scientific and technological innovation in port epidemic prevention and control. She led the team to establish a new coronavirus gene sequencing and bioinformatics analysis platform, and independently completed the whole genome sequencing and variant analysis of imported new coronavirus case samples, providing technical support for domestic epidemic tracing.
Thanks to a group of party members like Shi Yongxia, scientific and technological innovation has well empowered the port's epidemic prevention and control work. In Guangzhou Customs, where Shi Yongxia is located, has innovatively launched the "Information Management System for Epidemic Prevention and Control Operations", which greatly shortens passenger customs clearance time; innovatively promotes intelligent transformation of the entire process of health quarantine operations, automatically collects and verifys inbound passenger data, and improves customs clearance time.
Scientific and technological innovation not only provides strong support for the construction of core public health capabilities at ports, but also brings a new look of "smart customs".
At sea, Guangzhou Customs has realized the full chain of information operations of cargo customs clearance, promoted the development of multimodal transport business, and helped to form a "sea, land, air and railway" three-dimensional trade logistics hub centered on Guangzhou Nansha and radiated to the entire Pan-Pearl River Delta; on land, Guangzhou Customs has made every effort to promote the rapid development of China-Europe freight trains. In the six years since the launch of the Guangzhou China-Europe freight train, it has connected more than 20 countries and regions, providing stable international logistics channels for more than 2,600 foreign trade companies; in the air, relying on the intelligent customs supervision system, optimized customs supervision processes, supported "chartering flights" and "passenger-to-cargo" for air freight, and opened land-air and air intermodal transport services with 16 domestic airports.
When talking about his election as a representative of the 20th National Congress of the Party, Shi Yongxia has always been unforgettable to her original aspirations. As long as the country and the people need it, we will continue to face various infectious diseases and viruses in the laboratory world and work together to protect the epidemic prevention and control position."
Shi Yongxia said that customs people have always deeply realized the complexity and difficulty of anti-epidemic work and dare not relax at all. "We are fighting against the virus every second, because only by running faster than the virus can we find and cut off the source of the epidemic transmission chain as soon as possible and ensure the safety of the people to the greatest extent."
