Since birth, we have learned to walk and talk; when we become adults, we have learned various work skills and started a family and a career.
Every thing in it is done to master and possess it after a lot of effort. However, we do not seem to regard them as problems, but only think that they are common things that everyone has to experience.
That's because of these problems. Society has already arranged solutions for us. We just need to follow the process step by step, and the problem will naturally be solved.
On the contrary, in life and work, some things you have never encountered will suddenly appear. No one will tell you how to do it. Although it is just a few small things, you don’t know how to start.
You have solved so many big problems in your life, but you are helpless about these small problems. The reason is that you have not mastered the solution to the problem.
It’s not your fault. The school teaches solutions to various problems, but only the solution to the problem is not taught.
Although different problems have different solutions, from the underlying methodology, there are the following 4 steps to solve all problems.
1. Defining the real problem
You may say: It is not easy to find the problem, what I don’t know is the problem. But it is not easy to find the real problem.
Many problems are just problems with appearance. If you think of ways around these appearance problems, the problem may never be solved.
For example, if you want to drive to an important meeting, your tire suddenly explodes on the way and you can't leave. What is your real problem at this moment? Of course it is not about tire repair, but how to arrive at the meeting location on time.
This is easy to understand because the importance of things is clear at a glance, and it is easy for you to weigh the pros and cons, put the car aside, and then take a taxi.
However, many problems in life are often complicated and are affected by emotions, which leads you to ignore the real problems and focus on some irrelevant superficial issues.
After discovering the real problem, we will determine which type of problem is. There are 4 common problems in
: What is it? How to do it? Why? Right? Almost all the problems you encounter are in these 4 types.
has a tire blown up, your question is "how to do it"; if you fail to do things, your question is "why"; if you see a new thing, your question is "what is".
2, Analysis of Problems
Analysis of Problems has almost become a catchphrase. When encountering anything, we will say: analyze this problem carefully. But what exactly is analysis? Or how to analyze it? This is confused.
Return to the original meaning of the word "analysis", "division" means to separate, divide a whole into multiple parts, and divide a matter into multiple processes; "analysis", the original meaning is to use an axe to split the wood and split the whole piece of wood into multiple wooden blocks, and analysis also means to separate.
So, analysis means splitting, and analysis problems are disassembly problems.
The problem you encounter, no matter which type it is, can be broken down into many components. However, when disassembling, you cannot disassemble it according to your feelings.
In fact, disassembling the problem is the most critical part and the most difficult part to solve the problem. If it is well dismantled, the problem can be easily solved. If it is not well dismantled, the problem will be more complicated.
For example, if the tire blows up, what do you want to do? There are many ways to disassemble: change the spare tire yourself; call the repairman to repair it; only one tire explodes, and you can continue driving; ask the traffic police for help; take a taxi to have a meeting... · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · When disassembling problems, focus on the purpose and the direction will not go wrong.
What is your purpose in solving this problem? Disassemble the problem from this perspective.
When disassembling a problem, the MECE rule is very useful, which is "no duplication, no omission", that is, when you disassemble a problem, you must list every possibility, and these possibilities cannot be repeated.
For example, in this room, children, young people, elderly people, and women, this classification violates the MECE law. Because women have repetitions with young people and elderly people, women cannot be placed in this category.
3. Assumption--Verify that the
problem is split, it does not mean that it can be solved, but it just gives us multiple possibilities to solve the problem. What should I do after the tire blowout of
? You have already disassembled a lot of practices, but which one is the most correct approach? Need to verify.
Can you change the tire yourself? It seems not possible because I have never changed it. Can you call someone to repair it? Not bad, because time is too late. Will you continue to run with a broken tire? Still not, it's too dangerous.
Put the car on the side of the road, take a taxi to have a meeting, and then ask the mechanic to come for repair. This is feasible.
has some possibilities, you can see at a glance that the problem cannot be solved, so just rule it out. Only select those methods that may solve the problem and use them as assumptions to verify.
verifies hypotheses in work, and cannot be imagined by the brain as in the example. In real circumstances, the problem will be very complicated and you will never be able to get the result by scheming. You must practice it and verify the correctness through practice.
4. The solution to the problem of
. After verification, it is selected as a formal solution.
has a solution, but it does not mean that the problem has been solved. The next work is to act and solve this problem according to the solution.
In fact, it is difficult to find solutions to the problem, but the implementation of the solution will be even more difficult, and it is very likely that it will encounter resistance and cannot be implemented.
At this time, don’t be discouraged. Go back to the first step to solve the problem, find the reasons for resistance (problems), analyze the problem, and find new solutions. This cycle is repeated until the problem is solved.
Although we live in a problematic world, we passively solve most of the problems, so we grow very slowly.
When encountering problems, either someone else tells you how to do it, or you do it based on your own experience and feelings. If you do it well, it is because you are good at it; if you don’t do it well, it is because the problem is too difficult.
If you want to grow faster, you can only take the initiative to solve the problem. When encountering problems, follow the steps to solve problems, objectively analyze them, find the correct solution, and take action to solve the problem.
