Over the years, my deepest feeling as a teacher is that I am getting busier and busier, and I am busy with chores outside of teaching. As teachers, many people don’t understand that there are still so many students in the school and so many teaching contents, why are they getting busier and busier?
But looking at the various departments of the school, the teachers suddenly understood. There are several more departments in school today than before, and there are more and more leaders. Taking our school as an example, there are nearly 20 leaders of all sizes. One principal and three vice principals. There are eight departments, namely the Teaching Department, the Education and Research Department, the Trade Union, the Office, the Student Department, the Logistics Department, Political and Educational Department , and the Young Pioneers Brigade Committee. Each department has two directors and several clerks. In addition, the school also has grade directors and teaching and research team leaders of various subjects. It turns out that there are so many leaders, it is unimaginable. It is precisely because there are more and more leaders that the teachers feel busier and busier.
First: Each department will assign some tasks to teachers every week. It is really difficult for teachers to deal with together.
I don’t know when, but the school has also started to set up many departments like government departments, with very meticulous division of labor. In the past, schools generally had only two departments: the Teaching Department and the Logistics Department, one was in charge of teaching and the other was in charge of miscellaneous matters, and the school could also operate normally. But now it is different. Everyone has very detailed division of labor, so many departments have appeared. In order to reflect their value, these departments will arrange some tasks for teachers every week. For example, the teaching department will assign classes to listen to teachers, the teaching and research department will inspect teachers' homework lesson plans, the student department will arrange some activity meetings for class cadres, the Political and Educational Department will conduct major health inspections, and the office will arrange some essay contests and other activities. There seems to be not many tasks assigned by each department, but there are still many things that are all concentrated together.
Nowadays teachers not only have to complete teaching tasks, but also have to deal with various errands assigned by various departments of the school. Especially when the school starts and the holiday is about to begin, the school has more chores, and many teachers are so busy that they don’t even have time to class, let alone prepare lessons and correct homework. The key is that the school’s tasks cannot be refused and must be carried out unconditionally.
Second: Department leaders basically do not attend classes, so the teaching tasks of front-line teachers are naturally much heavier than before,
Current teachers feel that they are busier than before, not only because there are too many chores, but also much heavier than before. The main reason is that there are more and more leaders in schools that do not attend classes.
In the 1980s, the school’s principal and vice principal also attended classes. But now, many middle-level leaders in the school do not attend classes, and even the deputy director only takes some subjects that do not take exams. In this way, the teaching tasks will be on other front-line teachers, causing everyone's teaching tasks to become heavier and heavier.
Take our school as an example. Chinese and mathematics teachers basically work in both subjects, with the weekly classes being around 15 hours, and English teachers work in at least three classes, with the weekly classes being around 15 hours. In addition, Chinese and mathematics teachers have to serve as class teachers. This is a rigid rule of the school. Teachers cannot refuse. Think about it, how can everyone not be tired?
It is precisely because there are more and more leaders who do not attend classes that fewer and fewer teachers are attending classes and everyone’s tasks are getting heavier.
Currently, schools advocate refined management, and management teachers are like managing students, which is also caused by too many leaders.
In recent years, refined management has been popular among enterprises. Our education has also learned this set of enterprises and began to implement refined management for teachers and students.
Current school management teachers are like managing students, and the school must take care of every move of teachers. When attending, teachers have to sign in every day. Some schools also require teachers to sign out. During working hours, teachers cannot go out. If there is an urgent matter, they must ask their leaders for leave. In addition, the school’s big breaks and various activities also have assessment requirements for teachers, and everyone must participate. To put it bluntly, teachers don’t have much freedom in school, so it is absolutely impossible to relax for a while.
Such meticulous management teachers are because there are too many leaders and everyone needs to do something, so they can only think of ways to manage the teachers.
