Master Yanjue said that diligence and frugality are the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation, and being satisfied with less desire is an important concept advocated by Buddhism. This educational class with the theme of “Advocating Frugality and Abstaining from Extravagance” is of great significance in solving outstanding problems affecting the healthy inheritance of Buddhism, vigorously strengthening the construction of teaching style, and promoting the sinicization process of Buddhism. Master Yanjue requires the students to consciously establish and practice the core values of socialism through this study, carry forward the excellent traditional culture and traditional virtues of China, adhere to the direction of Sinicization of Buddhism, and continuously improve the ideological awareness of loving the party, the country, and socialism. ; We must temper our thoughts, apply what we have learned, establish a sense of ownership, effectively enhance our sense of responsibility and mission, have the courage to self-revolution , and insist on turning the blade inward to resolutely rectify outstanding problems in the field of Buddhism.
Yuan Sha said in her speech that the religious circles’ advocacy and development of activities that advocate frugality and abstain from extravagance is a concrete manifestation of the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions to support the religious circles in comprehensively and strictly governing religions. The powerful measures to combine the concept of "frugality and abstain from luxury" with the practice of socialist core values also reflect the religious community's own sense of worry and moral consciousness. The Buddhist Association of China took the lead in organizing this educational class with the theme of "Advocating Frugality and Abstaining from Extravagance", which fully demonstrated the political responsibility and leading role of the Buddhist Association of China.
This study class includes "Interpretation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era", "Studying General Secretary Xi Jinping's Important Expositions on Religious Work", "Interpretation of the Spirit of the National Religious Work Conference", "Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture and Moral Cultivation", "China Courses such as "Traditional Virtue: Advocating Frugality and Abstaining from Extravagance", "The Debate between Righteousness and Benefit in Excellent Traditional Chinese Culture", "Buddhist Thought and Ecological Civilization", etc. More than 50 people, including heads of departments and offices of the Chinese Buddhist Association and the Chinese Buddhist Academy and above, and relevant personnel of the Beijing Buddhist Association and Beijing Buddhist activity venues, participated in the study.
