Yuan Xing

　　Shen Cheng. His courtesy name is Zhantang, his common surname is Sun, and he is , people in Kuaiji (Shaoxing, Zhejiang). My mother dreams that the sun wheel falls from the air and is born with clear nature. When he was four years old, he picked up his pen and drew a Buddha statue. He gave him the Buddhist scriptures and could recite them immediately. In the 13th year of Yuan Shizu (1276 AD), he defected to the seat of lawyer Shimenshu, shaved his hair and received the full precepts. Later, he followed the Buddhist monk Jiji to learn the teachings of Tiantai Sect . In the ninth year of Dade in the Emperor Chengzong of Yuan Dynasty (1305 AD), he lived in Dongzhu Temple in Hangzhou. In the 11th year of Dade (1307 AD), there was a severe drought in Wuyue (Jiangxi and Zhejiang), praying for rain for the people, and the heavy rain fell immediately.

　　One year, some people died but were unable to restrain their bodies. Xingcheng helped them bury their bodies and saved them in the Great Water and Land Dharma Conference. Yuan Yingzong in the first year of Zhizhi (1321 AD), the imperial court passed an edict to summon the capital, welcomed him to live in Qingta Temple, corrected the Tripitaka, and gave him the title of "Master Fohai". Then the abbot went to Tianzhu Temple and finally retired to Foguo Temple , firmly practicing Pure Land. Xingcheng once practiced the method of One Mind Three Views for seven days and nights, and repeatedly received auspicious responses.

　　Later, on the first day of a certain month, when the public went to the interview service as usual, Xingcheng hurriedly put his hands together and replied, "If the old monk had not retired to practice Pure Land in the past, my Buddhist path would have almost been abandoned halfway. Although there is still time today, I am afraid there will be no more time to spend tomorrow." After that, he repeatedly inspected his robe and mantle to show that life and death were impermanent. The public helped him chant the Buddha's name, and Xingcheng stopped him and said, "The Buddha must recite it by himself. Tomorrow morning, everyone should come to say goodbye."
