In the last "Praise Verse" of " Diamond Sutra " there is a sentence:
Eliminate doubts and generate faith, eliminate appearances and transcend sects, and suddenly forget human Dharma and understand true emptiness.
The content in the Diamond Sutra is a response between Tathagata and Subhuti . Among the many disciples, Subhuti is known as "the first to understand emptiness", so the entire Diamond Sutra talks about the wisdom of "emptiness".
So what is "empty"?
is empty, not without it.
has a word called: "Empty and Existence are Not Two" - "Vacuum" and "Miscellaneous Existence" are not two things, but one thing.
This is just like the "yin and yang" mentioned in Chinese culture. It is actually also a thing. You can call it "Tao" (one yin and one yang are called Tao), or it can be called "chaotic", but when you try to describe it, it becomes two things when you say it: yin and yang.
So in Zen, it is said that is just a mistake in words and intentions, and the words are wrong.
What does "emptiness" mean in the Diamond Sutra?
Perhaps what it says is: Because it is not (a specific thing), it can be (everything).
can become everything.
The essence of all things is "emptiness".
is like a person scolding you, you will think he is a "bad person", but if his essence is "bad", then everyone should think he is a "bad person".
is not actually the case. His wife or children may regard him as a hero and as a "good person" - that is, his essence is not "bad" or "good", but "empty".
Everything is like this. Therefore, in the Diamond Sutra, this statement continues to appear:
The Buddha said that the Prajna Paramita is not the Prajna Paramita, but is called Prajna Paramita.
All dust particles, the Tathagata says that it is not dust particles, it is called dust particles; the Tathagata says that the world is not the world, it is called the world.
Sentient beings, the Tathagata says that they are not sentient beings, but are called sentient beings. The good deeds mentioned in
are not good deeds, but are called good deeds.
Prajna Paramita, dust particles, sentient beings, good deeds, all of this is "empty" because it is not "Prajna Paramita, dust particles, sentient beings, good deeds", so it can be as above.
This is what "empty" means.
There is another more interesting thing. There is a saying in the Diamond Sutra that if you understand it, it can cure 99% of people's internal internal friction.
This sentence is:
Subhuti, the Tathagata said that there is me, that is, there is not me, but ordinary people think there is me. Subhuti. Ordinary people, the Tathagata said, are extraordinary people, and are called ordinary people. The method to remove mental internal friction given by the sentence
is - "removing self-attachment".
In traditional culture classics, a word is often mentioned: baby (innocence).
"University " says: "Kanggao " says: "It's like protecting a child."
"Mencius " says: The adults do not lose their innocent heart.
The "Tao Te Ching" says: Independence of virtue will never leave, and return to the baby. He also said: All saints are children.
Because during this infancy, everyone has no "ego" and no discriminatory mind. When we grew up, we learned to distinguish: this is yours, this is mine, this is his.
This discriminating mind is the source of a lot of pain and anxiety: Why does he have so many but I don’t? Why does the girl I like like like him?
This is called discriminatory mind.
If there is no discriminatory mind, there will be no such pain, and the origin of the discriminatory mind lies in "I".
Therefore, the Diamond Sutra says: Tathagata says that there is me, that is, there is not me, but ordinary people think there is me.
Subhuti, do you think there is really a "me" in this world? In fact, there is no such thing. Ordinary people think that there is one, so they suffer from this worldly pain.
How can I get rid of it? The answer is to figure it out: ordinary people, the Tathagata says that they are extraordinary people, and they are ordinary people. How to understand
?
For example, it’s like everyone playing mobile games:
The world in the game is the game world, and the world we are in when operating the game is the real world.
We control the characters in the game to kill all directions, fighting monsters and upgrading them all the way.
Now imagine: imagines the real world we are in as the game world, and imagines ourselves as the protagonist who fights monsters and upgrades in the game.
Who is playing this game? Who is controlling us?
Tathagata, the one who is playing the game is called "true nature", also called "true heart", but it is actually playing the game.
For it, what we think of the real world is actually the game world, and now we are just the protagonists in the game: you are Zhao Yun, I am Guan Yu, he is Xiang Yu ...
now the most important thing is -
Who is "I"?
Is "I" the character in the real world, or the "true nature" who is playing the game?
"I" is the "true nature" who plays the game.
The character called "I" in the real world is just a game character, that is, Zhao Yun in the game.
When you are playing games, will you hear Zhao Yun complaining to you:
Guan Yu is too powerful, I can't beat him, so depressed; Xiang Yu is too diligent, making the workplace too crammy, and getting mentally fucked?
won't. When you play the game, you won't care about the joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness of the protagonist of the game. Moreover, the protagonist of the game shouldn't be emotional. Zhao Yun in the game will not tell you: It's too annoying. I don't want to fight monsters anymore, I just want to rest.
Why do we have no "mental internal friction" when playing games? We will focus and drive the game to the point where it is flying?
is because we know that this is just a game, and "I" is the person who plays the game.
"Those who have me are not me" - has no "me" at all, I am the "true nature" who is playing games, and I in the real world are just a game character.
We are now just projected in a game, playing an immersive game called "Life".
In the game, experience the joy of fighting monsters and upgrading, and create the world you want.
And the so-called "mental internal friction" actually does not exist.
