If a child coughs after becoming “yang”, or if he still coughs after becoming “yang healthy”, can he be atomized? This is an issue that many parents are very concerned about during this time. First of all, I can tell you clearly that if your child's cough is severe, nebulization can be done, but it is best to go to the hospital and have a doctor evaluate and guide you. It is not recommended to do nebulization at home.

Before doing atomization, parents should first understand some common sense about atomization.
01. Not all respiratory diseases can be treated by atomization
Nebulization treatment allows the baby to inhale the medicine into the respiratory tract and lungs to achieve the purpose of humidifying and cleaning the airway and performing local and systemic treatment.
However, although it can treat some respiratory diseases in children, not all respiratory diseases can be treated by atomization.
Let’s first take a look at these common diseases that can be treated by atomization:
① Respiratory system diseases: such as bronchiolitis, post-infectious cough, acute laryngotracheobronchitis, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, mycoplasma pneumonia, pertussis and pertussis-like syndrome, etc.;
② Ear Diseases of the nose and throat system: such as acute laryngitis , acute epiglottitis , chronic sinusitis , laryngeal edema, etc.;
③ Some infectious diseases: such as fungal infection of the lungs, respiratory syncytial virus infection , and Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (prevention and treatment), etc.
For example, recurrent wheezing in infants or preschoolers (which needs to be evaluated by a doctor for standardized asthma treatment), bronchial asthma (including cough variant asthma), etc., require long-term inhaled steroid treatment; while acute wheezing bronchitis can be relieved in the short term.
What needs to be reminded here is that in general, atomization treatment needs to be taken strictly according to the doctor's instructions. It is not recommended that parents make their own diagnosis and medication, because if the atomization treatment is not standardized, it may induce bronchospasm and wheezing, and even make the baby's condition worse.
Some parents saw this and came to the conclusion, oh, I understand, as long as you have difficulty breathing, you can use nebulization. In fact, this conclusion is wrong.
In the guidelines for various colds, bronchitis , pneumonia in major countries in North America and Europe, aerosol inhalation treatment is not recommended.

02. The effect is better if you don’t eat before nebulizing.
Parents should not give their babies too much food before nebulizing them (you should stop eating half an hour ago), so as to prevent the baby from experiencing symptoms of nausea and vomiting during atomization, which may lead to aspiration.
It is also best to clean the baby's mouth in time before atomizing (brushing teeth or gargling with warm water) to avoid food residue or secretions in the mouth from affecting the inhalation of drug droplets.
If the baby has a lot of phlegm, parents can also help the baby expel phlegm before atomizing (use a hollow palm to pat the back with moderate force from bottom to top and from the inside to the outside). If the baby is younger, you can also use a clean tissue to clean the mouth.

03. The effect of atomizing is better when the baby is quiet.
Parents are best to atomize when the baby is quiet, the effect will be better.
Because the baby inhales relatively quickly when crying, aerosol particles mainly accumulate in the oropharynx, and the amount of medicine entering the lungs is significantly reduced, and the effect will be greatly affected.
Moreover, when the baby is crying, the atomizing mask cannot fit closely to the face, and the inhalation efficiency will be significantly reduced.
Therefore, if the baby cries, parents should pause the atomization and comfort them in time. It is best to guide the baby to breathe slowly and deeply, which is more conducive to the deposition of drug particles in the diseased area.

04 Clean the face and mouth after atomization
If you use a mask to inhale glucocorticoids to atomize your baby, not only should you wash your baby's face in time after atomization, but before atomization, you should avoid using oily creams on your baby to remove drug residues adsorbed on the face in time to reduce the amount of drug absorbed through the skin.
In addition, if other drugs (albuterol, terbutaline , ipratropium bromide ) are inhaled through atomization, the baby's mouth should also be cleaned in time. Because glucocorticoids and other drugs can easily cause secondary oral infections, if the mouth is not rinsed in time, the residual drugs in the oropharynx will increase the risk of fungal infection in the baby.
Moreover, after gargling in time, it can also reduce the dose of drugs entering the gastrointestinal tract and reduce adverse reactions in local areas.
If the baby is young and cannot rinse his mouth yet, parents can use a cotton swab dipped in 2.5% saline or sodium bicarbonate solution to gently wipe the baby's mouth to achieve a cleaning effect.
