The General Office of the National Health Commission issued the " Exploring the Special Services for Depression Prevention and Treatment of Depression ", which provides a comprehensive solution from screening, prevention to treatment. These include: each high school and college incorporating depression screening into the content of students' health examinations; various physical examination centers include emotional status assessment in the physical examination items; and incorporating pregnancy and postpartum depression screening into routine pregnancy and postpartum visits.

"Work Plan for Exploring Special Services for Depression Prevention and Treatment" In order to implement the relevant requirements of the "Healthy China Action (2019-2030)" mental health promotion action, increase the efforts to prevent and treat depression , and encourage pilot areas to explore the development of special services for depression prevention and treatment, the General Office of the National Health Commission issued the "Work Plan for Exploring Special Services for Depression Prevention and Treatment". The plan has determined the work goals of the pilot areas by 2022, including 80% awareness of depression prevention and treatment knowledge, a 50% increase in the rate of treatment for depression, a 30% increase in the rate of treatment, and a 50% increase in the rate of depression recognition among physicians in non-psychiatric hospitals.
Six key tasks clearly defined in the plan
. Strengthen prevention and control knowledge education

. Increase intervention efforts for key populations
Mental health service measures are proposed for adolescents, pregnant women, the elderly, and high-pressure occupations.
5. Strengthen psychological hotline service
requires the construction of psychological assistance hotline into a convenient platform for the public to conduct mental health consultation, help, guidance, crisis intervention and referral.
6. Timely psychological intervention
requires all localities to establish and improve professional psychological crisis intervention teams, and organize psychological counseling and psychological intervention in a timely manner when emergencies occur.
