Today Lantai will introduce to you the descendants of the famous anti-Japanese general Zhang Zizhong.
During the Anti-Japanese War , many patriotic generals emerged in China who sacrificed their lives and blood to fight against Japanese aggression. The most well-known among them is undoubtedly General Zhang Zizhong, who was born in the "Northwestern Army".
So, after General Zhang Zizhong died for his country, how did the descendants of General Zhang Zizhong fare?

General Zhang Zizhong and his wife, Ms. Li Minhui, have two sons and one daughter, namely the eldest son Zhang Lianzhen, the second son Zhang Lianjing and the youngest daughter Zhang Lianyun.
General Zhang Lianjing was the second son of General Zhang Zizhong. The general planned to let this son inherit his mantle. He consciously trained Zhang Lianjing to be a soldier since he was a child. When Zhang Lianjing was 16 years old, General Zhang Lianjing was sent to the military academy by his son. Unfortunately, only one year later, Zhang Lianjing unfortunately contracted typhoid fever and died in 1934 at the age of 17.
In other words, when General Zhang Zizhong died for his country in 1940, General Zhang Zizhong only had his eldest son Zhang Lianzhen and his youngest daughter Zhang Lianyun left.
When General Zhang Zizhong died for his country, General Zhang's eldest son Zhang Lianzhen was guarding his mother who had cancer in Shanghai.
At that time, only hospitals in Shanghai could provide radioactive treatment for cancer patients in China. In order to treat her mother's disease, Zhang Lianzhen had to live with her mother in the 29th Army Office in Shanghai.
When the Pacific War broke out, Ms. Li Minhui happened to die of illness, so Zhang Lianzhen took her family from Shanghai to Xi'an, and later to Chengdu.
After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War , Zhang Zizhong's eldest son Zhang Lianzhen took his family to rely on Fu Zuoyi; while General Zhang Zizhong's youngest daughter Zhang Lianyun was studying in Shanghai.
By the way, Zhang Lianzhen's sister, Zhang Lianyun, the youngest daughter of General Zhang Zizhong, participated in the revolution in 1946, and she drew a clear line with her brother Zhang Lianzhen and had no contact with her.

According to what General Zhang Zizhong’s eldest grandson Zhang Qingyi later said in an interview, by 1948, Fu Zuoyi felt that the end was over, so he called Zhang Lianzhen and others to a meeting and mobilized them to go to Taiwan.
Zhang Lianzhen's wife wanted to listen to Fu Zuoyi and go to Taiwan with the whole family. However, Zhang Lianzhen was not in good health at the time, and the Zhang family still had so much property in the mainland that had not been disposed of, so she advocated not going to Taiwan. In the end, the family stayed in the mainland in accordance with Zhang Lianzhen's request.
But Zhang Lianzhen’s family still moved from Beijing to Shanghai.
After the founding of New China, Marshal Chen Yi still respected General Zhang Zizhong and General Zhang's eldest son. He also arranged for Zhang Lianzhen to become a member of the Shanghai District CPPCC , and also met General Zhang Zizhong's eldest grandson Zhang Qingyi.
Zhang Lianzhen has seven children in total, namely Zhang Qingyi, Zhang Qingan, Zhang Qinglong, Zhang Jizu, Zhang Qingfan, Zhang Qingcheng and Zhang Qingxin.
After the founding of New China, Zhang Qingyi, the eldest grandson of General Zhang Zizhong, served as deputy secretary of the Party Branch of Shanghai Iron and Steel Institute; while Zhang Qing'an, Zhang Qinglong, Zhang Jizu, and Zhang Qingfan were all in college.
"The sixth" Zhang Qingcheng did not go to college, but went directly to a technical secondary school. He studied at Shanghai Turbine School, and was later assigned to Shanghai Turbine Factory . Later, he went to Mianyang, Sichuan to support the construction of third-line .
Zhang Qingcheng was originally born in Chengdu, and was later assigned to Sichuan to support the third-line construction. It was God's will. Zhang Qingcheng has been engaged in technical work at Dongfang Turbine Factory in Mianyang , from assistant engineer to senior engineer. From 1994 to 2003, Zhang Qingcheng served as vice chairman and chairman of the Deyang City Association for Science and Technology in Sichuan Province; from 1998 to 2013, Zhang Qingcheng served as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and a member of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
After the reform and opening up , among the five people who stayed in Shanghai, Zhang Qing'an, Zhang Qinglong, Zhang Jizu, Zhang Qingfan, and Zhang Qingxin, Zhang Qinglong, Zhang Jizu, Zhang Qingfan, and Zhang Qingxin all chose to live and study in the United States.
The most promising ones are Zhang Qinglong, the third grandson of General Zhang Zizhong, and Zhang Qingfan, the fifth grandson. One of them became a tenured professor at the University of Cleveland in the United States, and the other became a tenured professor of New York University .
The fourth eldest brother Zhang Jizu and the seventh eldest brother Zhang Qingxin are quite different. Zhang Jizu opens a supermarket in the United States, while his younger brother Zhang Qingxin opens a restaurant in the United States.

Unlike many people who never return, Zhang Jizu finally chose to return to China with his wife to settle down after living in the United States for more than 20 years.
The main reason why Zhang Jizu and his wife chose to return to China to settle down was that his son did not go abroad with his parents, but stayed in Shanghai to develop.
However, Zhang Jizu and his wife did not develop well in the United States. According to Zhang Jizu's wife, after staying in the United States for 20 years, they did not learn much English. Instead, they mastered Cantonese .
Moreover, although the four Zhang brothers are in the United States, they rarely see each other because they live in different regions. According to Zhang Jizu’s statement in an interview with a reporter in 2012, the four brothers mainly make a living in the United States. Everyone is busy making money and rarely meet:
The United States mainly focuses on making a living, that is, making money, and politics is far away. There are too many things to do in business, and if you are not careful, you will have nothing to eat.
The more important reason why Zhang Jizu and his wife chose to return to China to settle down in 2007 was that Zhang Jizu’s son was doing very well in Shanghai and making a lot of money, while several of his son’s classmates who went to the United States had mediocre development. More importantly, after 2005, China’s The country is developing much faster than the United States. Even Zhang Jizu said in an interview with reporters in 2012 that it is difficult for Chinese people to make money in the United States. If they really want to make money, they still have to make money at home:
My son bought a house in Shanghai, and millions were paid for it all at once. How can Americans afford it? Our house in Columbus is very cheap, about 100,000 yuan, and it's very big. I sold it more than ten years later and it increased by 1%. Most Americans cannot afford the housing prices in China. We also need to hire aunties, one to look after the children and one to clean. How can the United States afford it?
It was precisely because Zhang Jizu's son's career was booming in China that Zhang Jizu and his wife finally chose to return to China and settle down after living in the United States for 20 years.

In fact, purely from the perspective of economic development, the one who has really developed the best among the seven grandsons of General Zhang Zizhong is Zhang Qing'an who stayed in China. He has become an outstanding businessman with a net worth of over 100 million.
Among the four people who came to the United States in the 1980s, even if they became tenured professors, they were not financially well-off.
