On the morning of December 30, 2022, the Jieyang Municipal Committee of Guangdong Province held a military meeting to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping’s Thought on Strengthening the Army and the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, analyze the armed work situation of Jieyang City, study and deploy key tasks for the next step, emphasizing the need to further unify thinking, gather strength, consolidate responsibilities, and promote the high-quality development of the city’s party-controlled armed forces and national defense mobilization work at a new historical starting point. Wang Sheng, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, and First Secretary of the Party Committee of Jieyang Military Division, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor Zhi Guangnan, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Chen Xiaofeng, Commander of Jieyang Military Division Lu Songyan, Political Commissar of Jieyang Military Division Zhan Kefeng and others attended the meeting.
The meeting conveyed the spirit of President Xi’s important speech on national defense and military building, as well as the spirit of the 2022 Provincial Party Committee Military Meeting; listened to reports on the city’s armed work situation, and studied and discussed relevant key work matters. The
meeting pointed out that since 2022, the city's armed front has thoroughly implemented Xi Jinping's Thought on Strengthening the Army, resolutely implemented the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the Central Military Commission, and the instructions and requirements of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial Government, and Provincial Military Regions, focused on deepening the party's innovative theoretical arming, paid close attention to the implementation of troop training and preparations, solidly promoted potential surveys, militia grouping and recruitment, coordinated grassroots construction, security and stability, and the "four orders", and continued to promote the quality and efficiency of armed work and military division construction. At the same time, the majority of officers, soldiers and militiamen of the troops stationed in Jieyang conscientiously practice the purpose of the Party, regard the station as their hometown and the people as relatives, actively support the economic and social construction of Jieyang, and promote win-win development between the military and the local community. The
meeting emphasized that next year is the first year to fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and it is also a critical year for the implementation of our city's national defense mobilization reform. It is necessary to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and Xi Jinping’s thought on strengthening the military, deeply understand the decisive significance of "1, two to establish," strengthen "1, four consciousnesses," strengthen "1, four self-confidences," and achieve "1, two to maintain," to ensure that the party's management of armed forces and national defense mobilization work always moves in the right direction. It is necessary to focus on training and preparing for war, promote national defense mobilization and reserve force building with high standards, solidly reform the national defense mobilization system, build strong reserve forces, and intensify the construction of the city's national defense education and training base.
