"On December 29, a large-scale missile attack... The enemy is attacking Ukraine from all directions with air-based and sea-based cruise missiles on strategic aircraft and ships." The Ukrainian Air Force said on social media. Podolak, an adviser to the Ukrainian President's Office, said on Twitter that Russia launched more than 120 missiles into Ukraine that day. CNN said air raid sirens sounded across Ukraine on Thursday morning, with officials reporting that cities including Kiev, Kharkiv, Nikolayev, Zhitomyr and Poltava were hit by missiles and activated air defense systems. Agence France-Presse reported that explosions occurred in multiple cities in Ukraine, including the capital Kiev, on Thursday morning. The mayor of Kiev warned of possible power outages and called on residents to stock up on water. However, the report later quoted a Ukrainian official as saying that "all 16 Russian missiles that attacked Kiev were shot down."

As expected, Russia has never been a loser. Ukraine just used drone to raid Russian airports a few days ago. This counterattack came without a fight back, and it was still in such a violent way. With 120 missiles, several major cities in Ukraine were attacked, with Kiev being the key target. As for the claim by Ukrainian officials that "all 16 Russian missiles that attacked Kiev were shot down," it is not very credible. Maybe it was smoke bombs released by Ukraine to stabilize people's hearts. After all, the sound of explosions cannot fool anyone. The mayor of Kiev also called on residents to stock up on water, claiming that there might be a power outage. All indications indicate that Ukraine does not have the ability to completely intercept Russian missile attacks, and it can only be passively attacked.

Russia's long-range missile attack on Ukraine is getting bigger and bigger, and there is almost no absolute safe place in Ukraine. This is to put military pressure on Ukraine, strengthen military deterrence against Ukraine, and make it understand that attacking Russia's rear will not be worth the gain, and Russia's counterattack and retaliation will make Ukraine pay a heavy price. However, Ukraine is very tenacious and determined to fight Russia. Under the missile attack, Ukraine still failed to make a rational judgment. Otherwise, it would not have repeatedly attacked important infrastructure and airports in Russia's rear. If Ukraine does not stop this large-scale attack by Russia and will retaliate against Russia in the future, the scale of Russia's next attack is likely to expand again. In this way, the war situation between Russia and Ukraine will continue to get out of control, and the scale is likely to continue to expand, and eventually a full-scale conflict will break out.

Also, there is a new situation in the attack on Ukraine. According to a report by RIA Novosti on December 29, citing news from the Belarus branch of Sputnik News, a Ukrainian S-300 anti-aircraft missile landed in Belarus. Belarusian President Lukashenko has asked relevant departments to investigate the cause of the incident. Ukraine's anti-aircraft missiles did not fall on Poland this time, but on Belarus. This situation occurred amid the deteriorating situation between Russia and Ukraine. It is difficult to tell whether this matter is true or not, but it cannot help but make people think that Belarus may have a reason to intervene in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. In other words, regardless of whether this matter is true or false, Russia can use this matter to put pressure on Ukraine. The results of the investigation in Belarus must serve politics and the military.

This is a warning to Ukraine from the side. If it attacks Russia again, Russia is likely to join forces with Belarus to attack Ukraine. By then, Ukraine will be under attack from both sides, the rear is no longer safe, and the front line is likely to be defeated. It can be said that this incident is another killer move by Russia against Ukraine. After all, Belarus is a die-hard ally of Russia. With a reason to intervene, it's a matter of choice whether to take action or not. Not only has Ukraine been taught a lesson by missiles this time, but it will also be in an unfavorable surrounding security environment. Once Belarus takes action, it means that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has gotten out of control. It is no longer limited to Russia and Ukraine, and third countries have begun to participate.

Now it depends on how Ukraine chooses. If it continues to be hard-core, engages in confrontation with Russia, and continues to conduct raids on Russia’s rear, then the war situation is likely to expand. If Ukraine were more honest and rational, the situation would still be under control and would not continue to deteriorate. I hope Ukraine can make a wise choice and stop angering Russia too much, because if this continues, Ukraine will still suffer.
