The U.S. Department of Justice issued a statement on Monday saying that Dean Edward Cheves, 63, worked at the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines from 2017 to 2021. During this period, he met several local minors through the Internet.
Between December 2020 and March 2021, Chevs talked with a 15 or 16-year-old Philippines minor who was then paid to make and send pornographic images.
In February 2021, Chevs had sex with another Filipino minor he met online twice on different occasions. He also filmed the process using a work phone distributed by the US government.
The US Department of Justice pointed out that the illegal videos and pictures he produced and received were later found in equipment seized in his embassy residence. The U.S. Department of Justice added that Chevs knew the age of these minors at the time. Chevs was sent back to the United States in March 2021.
