September 23, staff of the Pacific Securities Investment Education Base and 15 entrepreneurs from all walks of life in Kunming visited the Kunming Taihuashan National Baseline Climate Station located in Xishan District , and visited the ground meteorological observation base and Yunnan Meteorological Museum .
In Yide Science Square, the group learned how ancient people used horizon sundial to determine the time of year, how to use the "rain measurement platform" written by Qianlong to imitate the rainfall measurement; how to use the "butian Regulations" created by Mr. Chen Yide in the country to confirm the orientation of the starry sky. On the meteorological high-tech automation business system display platform, the webmaster introduced to everyone the integrated sky-ground meteorological comprehensive observation network ( meteorological satellite , meteorological radar , meteorological sounding, ground detection, three-dimensional lightning positioning, etc.) and professional meteorological service system. Finally, we discussed the important role of meteorological services in various fields, especially the impact of meteorological services on the stock market and enterprises.
Kunming Taihua Mountain Climate Station is located on the top of Taihua Mountain at an altitude of 2358 meters. It was established by natural scientist Mr. Chen Yide (1886-1958 AD) in 1937 (founded the private Yide Measuring Institute in 1927). It is still in use. It has been awarded the titles of National Science Popularization Education Base, Yunnan Province Patriotism Education Base, Yunnan Province Science Popularization Education Base, Kunming City United Front "Science Light" Education Base, etc.
In 2008, Kunming Municipal Cultural Bureau established the Yunnan Meteorological Museum in Taihua Mountain. The entire museum includes Yidelou and Yide couple’s tomb, which focuses on displaying Chen Yide’s outstanding contributions in the fields of nature and humanities. It combines with a modern meteorological detection business platform to fully reflect the meteorological development history of Yunnan.
