What they want to take is the " Star Dream Cruise - World Dream " cruise numbered "WD05200119". It is a well-known cruise brand in the industry. It is famous for its luxurious facilities, rich entertainment and food, which has made Han Xintong look forward to it for a long time. On this journey, the cruise ship will depart from Guangzhou Nansha Port Pier to Vietnam, stop at Nha Trang , Danang , and then return to Guangzhou.
At 8 pm, passengers started boarding the ship, "There are many people, and there are people speaking all dialects all over the country." Han Xintong didn't know at the time that among the thousands of passengers who would spend six days and five nights with her, 108 were from Hubei, and 28 were from Wuhan.
htmlOn January 24, on New Year's Eve, the World Dream Returned to Guangzhou, and the passengers went home. What they took away, in addition to the joyful memories on the cruise ship, viruses lurked in the bodies of individual passengers. htmlOn February 3, Guangdong Disease Control and Prevention issued a notice saying that several new coronavirus infections who received the latest reports had taken the cruise. Guangdong Disease Control and Prevention called on all personnel of the cruise ship to contact the CDC in the city of residence to report as soon as possible and cooperate with the follow-up work of the disease control personnel. As of February 7, among the passengers of this "World Dream", there have been 7 confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia, distributed in Zhaoqing, Guangdong, Jiangmen , Guangzhou, Zhuhai , and Dongguan . One of them has experienced a family cluster epidemic.
At present, the World Dream cruise ship has returned to Hong Kong. Before the quarantine work is completed, all passengers and employees cannot disembark without the permission of the SAR Health Department.

Dangers are no longer noticed
Han Xintong arrived in Guangzhou on the 25th day of the twelfth lunar month. Nansha District Forsythia Flower Market opened, but a cold air on that day brought sporadic light rain, causing the just-resurrect temperature to drop to 19℃. Most of the people on the dock were wearing long-sleeved jackets and cotton jackets. Han Xintong put on a vest and denim jacket on the short-sleeved ones, and still felt a little chill, which made her feel a little disappointed. "There are a bunch of beautiful skirts in her bag that didn't come in handy."
However, after boarding the ship, her depression was swept away, and the luxury of the "World Dream" opened her eyes.
According to the official website, the World Dream is the second luxury cruise ship under the Hong Kong Star Dream Cruise. It is 335 meters long and 40 meters wide. It has 18 decks and 1,686 rooms. The ship is equipped with a duty-free shopping mall, theater, water slide park and other large-scale entertainment and shopping facilities.

Han Xintong ran to the buffet restaurant that night for a big meal. "There are free buffet restaurants on the 7th, 8th and 16th floors, which are very large, so there are many people eating late, which is in line with my idea of 'shopping and eating'."
The boat boarded the boat together that day, and there were three from Duanzhou District, Zhaoqing City - 33-year-old Jiang and her husband and eldest son; a mother and daughter from Dongguan, the mother is 59 years old, and her daughter is 33 years old, from Dalian, Liaoning, and she lives in Dongguan Humen Town ; a 65-year-old man and family from Jinwan District, Zhuhai City. In addition, there were 108 passengers from Hubei, of which 28 were from Wuhan.
They either drove by themselves or traveled a long distance to Nansha Port Pier, boarded the "World Dream" cruise, looking forward to welcoming the arrival of the New Year with their families in the blue sea and blue sky.
That night, after all the passengers boarded the ship, Wu Yilin (pseudonym), a 28-year-old from Daao Town, Jiangmen City, disembarked. According to a later notice from the Jiangmen Municipal Health and Family Planning Bureau, Wu Yilin lived alone in a rental house in Panyu District, Guangzhou for a long time. He has never been to Wuhan recently. He usually works in online sales and occasionally goes to the "World Dream" cruise ship to temporarily work part-time on the ground staff.
htmlOn January 19th, Wu Yilin worked on the cruise until 9:30 pm. At that time, the passengers had already boarded the ship for one and a half hours. However, Han Xintong had no time to pay attention to all this at that time, and she and her family were quickly immersed in the joy of vacation. They booked two terrace rooms with sea views. During the day, the deck was full of people. "Children like to stay in the open-air swimming pool and play on the water slide; some elderly people in wheelchairs like to sit in outdoor cinemas and watch movies; middle-aged people like to hold the fence and take photos."
The only thing that made her feel a little inconvenient was that when the boat gradually sailed off the shore and approached the high seas, the mobile phone signal became weaker in size. Finally, "There is only Alipay software that can receive and pay, and can send simple conversations, but you can't even send pictures."
"World Dream" provides paid network traffic services. A crew member told the Beijing News reporter, "Wi-Fi on board can be bought, but it is very expensive. It only costs 80 yuan to 1 G of traffic, and basically no one buys it."
Han Xintong's family of five didn't buy it. There was no Internet that did not cause trouble for her. On the contrary, she enjoyed this "free" world without Internet, "just lying, shaking, and eating on the boat."
The epidemic quietly hit
0At the morning of January 21, the "World Dream" arrived in Nha Trang, a central Vietnamese city, and all passengers went ashore to play for a day.
has replaced it with a local mobile phone card in Vietnam and restored his life with the Internet. The first thing Han Xintong does is to browse Weibo. She saw that there were news on Weibo that Academician Zhong Nanshan said that "the novel coronavirus is confirmed to be 'human-to-human'" and that confirmed and suspected cases of new coronavirus pneumonia have also begun to report outside Hubei Province.
When the "World Dream" set off, the reported cases of new coronary pneumonia were only in Wuhan, and experts said that the epidemic is "preventable and controllable." Han Xintong told the Beijing News reporter, "I use Weibo a lot, but before boarding the ship, I had no idea about this disease, and I don't think it has anything to do with me."
Seeing that the epidemic is getting worse, Han Xintong began to think, "Should you wear a mask?"
Nha Trang is not big, and during the short time of the trip, Han Xintong did not find a place to sell masks. Back on the World Dream at night, she found that the masks from the only Japanese drugstore on the ship had been sold out.
However, no one on the ship wore masks at that time. Han Xintong remembers that on the evening of January 21, the atmosphere on the deck was still lively, and the music party held by the 17th floor swimming pool was still carnival, like a "large-scale disco scene", with more than a hundred people swaying to the music. On the "World Dream", the night performance has not yet begun, and the open-air performance area is already full of passengers. Photo provided by the interviewee
On this day, Wu Yilin left his rental house in Guangzhou, and traveled to the subway, long-distance bus and bus to return to his home in Daao Town, Xinhui District, Jiangmen City to reunite with his parents.
html Early in the morning of January 22, the "World Dream" arrived in Da Nang, Vietnam. As soon as we got off the ship, we immediately turned on our phones to check and found that the epidemic had further intensified. The number of confirmed cases of new coronavirus pneumonia has increased from 291 released the previous day to 440, and the number of provinces with cases and suspected cases is also gradually increasing. There were obviously more passengers discussing the epidemic. One of the itineraries on that day was a 40-minute supermarket purchase. Passengers went to buy masks at the same time. Han Xintong's mother bought 30.
However, when he returned to the ship at around 8 o'clock that night, Han Xintong noticed that except for the sporadic passengers, most of them still did not wear masks. "Maybe everyone thinks it is not that serious, and they all think that pneumonia only exists in China, and the ship is quite safe for the time being." The
cruise ship continued to sail, and in the day when it lost the Internet again, the pneumonia epidemic situation changed drastically. At 2 a.m. on January 23, Wuhan City announced that the city's urban buses, subways, ferries and long-distance passenger transport will be suspended from operation from 10 a.m., and the airport and railway stations will be temporarily closed. Zhejiang, Guangdong and Hunan have also launched first-level responses to major public health emergencies.
But on the boat, there were no special disinfection measures in those days. Han Xintong said, "The basic cleaning in the room is to throw away garbage and put toilet paper, and even the carpet in the room has not been sucked with a vacuum cleaner."
Soon, the five-night and six-day trip ended. Early in the morning of January 24, the "World Dream" returned to Guangzhou Nansha Port Wharf. When walking out of the cabin, all passengers, including Han Xintong's family, wore masks, "many staff on the boat also wore masks for the first time."
When I got off the boat, the atmosphere suddenly became tense. Two ambulances were parked at the pier, and several medical staff wearing white protective suits walked around. Some staff sprayed disinfectant on each passenger's hands and measured the body temperature of some passengers. "My grandma was tested at my home." Han Xintong said that everyone felt that "it was indeed abnormal." After getting off the ship, the passengers went home. Ms. Jiang from Zhaoqing's family of three, mother and daughter from Dongguan, 65-year-old man from Zhuhai and her family all drove home by themselves. Han Xin and Tong's family stayed in Guangzhou for a few days because of the air ticket.

veterinarians have fallen ill one after another
Before the "World Dream" returned to Nansha Port, Guangzhou, more than one person had any physical discomfort.
According to previous media reports, Nansha Customs said that they received a report from a ship doctor that Ms. Jiang from Zhaoqing had symptoms of fever on January 20. After taking antipyretics, she retested her body temperature at 37℃ the next day, and she did not have another fever since then.
When disembarking, Ms. Jiang was screened for COVID-19, but it was not considered abnormal at the time. According to a written reply from the Propaganda Department of Nansha District, Guangzhou to the Beijing News reporter, after the "World Dream" cruise ship docked on January 24, Nansha Customs conducted temperature monitoring and medical inspections on all incoming passengers and crew members, and conducted epidemiological investigations, medical screening and sampling for 18 passengers with fever during the voyage but with normal temperatures at the time of entry (including Zhaoqing cases), 6 close contacts, and key passengers reported by the ship agent company. "The results of the results that night were all negative for the nucleic acid test results of the new coronavirus."
However, according to the notice from the Zhaoqing Municipal Health and Family Planning Bureau, Ms. Jiang again developed fever symptoms the day after disembarking (January 25), was admitted to the hospital for treatment on January 31, and was diagnosed with new coronavirus pneumonia on February 1.
She has more than one passenger who has been uncomfortable during the voyage. According to the Zhuhai Health and Family Planning Bureau, a 65-year-old male passenger from Jinwan District, Zhuhai, had fallen ill on January 23. Due to limited information on notification, it is not clear what specific symptoms he had at that time, and it is impossible to know whether he was among the above 31 people.
After leaving the World Dream Number home, the Zhuhai man's body obviously did not recover. Two days later, he took a private car to Zhuhai Hongqi Hospital for treatment. He then went to Jinwan Hospital for treatment. On February 2, he was transferred to CUHK Fifth Hospital for isolation treatment by a 120 ambulance and has been confirmed.
Wu Yilin, who returned to his hometown in Daao Town, Jiangmen, also fell ill on January 23. According to a later notice from the Jiangmen Municipal Health and Family Planning Bureau, Wu Yilin began to develop symptoms such as fever and fatigue in the early morning of January 23. He walked to the outpatient clinic of Daao Health Center that night, and for five days he had been injecting in the outpatient injection room of the health center. He was admitted to the single room of Room 4 on the first floor of Daao Town Health Center at 8 pm on January 28, and he had not improved for many consecutive days.
He was diagnosed with new coronavirus pneumonia on February 1 and has been transferred to Jiangmen Central Hospital for designated isolation treatment. The
notice details his trip within 8 days from returning home on January 21 to being hospitalized on January 28. Like countless young people who returned home during the Spring Festival, he visited relatives and friends everywhere, and had lunch and dinner with his second aunt, his eldest cousin, and his second cousin's family; he had dinner with his sister's family; he went to his eldest aunt's house to pay New Year's greetings, and chatted with six relatives in the same room; he had a party with many friends and fellow villagers, and he also rode a motorcycle to take a friend home; perhaps because he was dissatisfied with his appearance, he also went to Siqian People's Hospital, Xinhui District, Jiangmen City to make teeth. The
notice specifically mentioned that Wu Yilin did not wear a mask when he was gathering with his family, relatives and friends.

Jiangmen Municipal Health and Family Planning Bureau reported that according to the results of epidemiological investigations, 21 close contacts of Wu Yilin were temporarily identified. At present, the Jiangmen Municipal Health Department has contacted all the 21 close contacts, of which 18 close contacts were quarantined and observed in centralized quarantine and observation, and the relevant situation was notified to the prevention and control command center of the other three close contacts to follow up.
Jiangmen City COVID-19 Prevention and Control Command calls on people who are in contact with Wu Yilin at the same time and in the same environment to report to the community and village where they are located as soon as possible. Each community and village shall report to the municipal health department and continue to track the physical condition of the registered personnel, or call the local epidemic prevention department to register and consult for medical treatment methods, and please be quarantined at home for 14 days, insist on measuring body temperature twice a day (one time in the morning and afternoon).
htmlOn February 4, a staff member of the People's Hospital of Wu Yilin who went to the teeth to make up the disease told the Beijing News that after receiving the news, "The dentists, radiologists, and enthalpy doctors who had contact with him have all undergone nucleic acid tests and are all negative. He stayed here for a short time and has been in contact for 13 days. The doctors have no symptoms."The Beijing News reporter called the Daao Health Center, which had been injected and hospitalized for 9 days before Wu Yilin was diagnosed. A person in charge told the Beijing News reporter that during Wu Yilin's visit, due to his fever, cough and other symptoms, the hospital also asked him if he had any contact history in Hubei and Wuhan. "He said he had never contacted people from other places." The person in charge did not disclose whether the medical staff at Daao Health Center is currently infected or isolated.
A village cadre in Dongsheng Village, Daao Town said that the village began to promote epidemic prevention and control on January 20, canceled large-scale activities, and told villagers to prevent and control the epidemic through village radio, electronic screen scrolling prompts, and distribution of leaflets.
Regarding Wu Yilin's return home, the village cadre said that he knew that Wu Yilin usually worked outside, but he did not have his contact information, so he was "not sure" about when he would return to the village and when he would leave.
After leaving the World Dream cruise, the mother and daughter from Dongguan were also diagnosed. According to the Dongguan Municipal Health and Family Planning Bureau, after returning to Humen's home, on January 24, the mother developed symptoms such as fever and muscle aches, and there was no obvious improvement after taking the medicine on her own; on January 26, the daughter developed cough symptoms. On February 2, the two were admitted to the hospital for isolation and treatment and transferred to the Ninth People's Hospital of the City for treatment. Both have been diagnosed with new coronary pneumonia.
Ms. Jiang’s family in Zhaoqing have even experienced a family cluster epidemic. According to the Zhaoqing Municipal Health and Family Planning Bureau, in addition to Ms. Jiang, her husband and eldest son who had boarded the ship, Ms. Jiang's mother-in-law, father-in-law and 3-year-old son were also diagnosed.
Han Xin and Tong's family are relatively lucky. More than ten days have passed and they have not experienced any discomfort symptoms.
During the three or four days she stayed in Guangzhou, she saw that the epidemic prevention and control became more and more stringent. The subway and airport are equipped with thermometers, and the body temperature must be measured when entering and leaving the station. The whole family was highly vigilant, washed their hands frequently, and wore masks as soon as they left the hotel room. After returning to their hometown, they also stayed at home and were self-isolated as required.
htmlOn February 7, the Propaganda Department of Guangzhou Nansha District Committee responded to a reporter from the Beijing News that the "World Dream" cruise ship docked on January 24, which has been 11 days since then. The incubation period of the virus is on the 14th. The chances of infection of people who have not yet occurred are getting smaller and smaller. The public does not need to panic excessively, and actively cooperate in accordance with the guidance of professional departments.

cruise ship suspended operations
After dropping off from Nansha Port in Guangzhou, the "World Dream" returned to Hong Kong. Two days later, on January 26, the General Office of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism issued an "Urgent Notice on Doing a Good Job in the Prevention and Control of the New Coronavirus Pneumonia Epidemic and Suspension of the Business Activities of Tourism Enterprises", saying, "From now on, travel agencies and online travel companies across the country will suspend the operation of group tourism and 'air ticket + hotel' tourism products."
Guangzhou Nansha District Party Committee Propaganda Department responded to the Beijing News reporter that the "World Dream" originally planned to depart from Nansha Port on January 26, of which about 200 Hubei tourists were. After coordination and communication between relevant departments and the cruise liner, the cruise liner canceled the voyage and implemented a full refund or re-signment process for tourists who purchased the ticket.
Star Dream Cruise Company also issued a statement on February 2 that in order to actively respond to the government's measures to curb the spread of the epidemic, it has suspended the operation of all its cruise ships in mainland China from January 26 and suspended the movement and replacement of all Chinese employees.
Not only Xingmeng Cruise, but Beijing News reporters found that many cruise companies such as Royal Caribbean Cruise , Costa Cruise have issued announcements to suspend some voyages departing from China's home port and introduce corresponding refund and change guarantee policies.
However, although operations in China have been suspended, the World Dream still sails in other regions.
employee Xiao Ai (pseudonym) told the Beijing News reporter that at 9 a.m. on January 26, the "World Dream" departed from Hong Kong and began the "Subic-Manila" voyage on the 5th night and 6th. After a day of sailing at sea, the World Dream arrived at the port of Manila, , Philippines, on January 28. "Everyone basically got off the boat and went to play." He drove from Manila in the afternoon and returned to Hong Kong on January 31.
At 8 o'clock that night, the "World Dream" started its weekend short trip again. He set off from Hong Kong at around 8 o'clock in the evening. After staying at sea for a day, he returned to Hong Kong early on February 2.
html In the early morning of February 4, when chatting with a reporter from the Beijing News, Xiao Ai was already on the "Taiwan Tour" route. On February 2, the cruise ship departed from Hong Kong, passed through Keelung and Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and returned to Hong Kong on the 5th. Xiao Ai said, "When I was docking at Kaohsiung Port on February 4, passengers were not allowed to disembark due to epidemic prevention work. We only stopped for a while and left."With the emergence of many confirmed cases related to the "World Dream", the cruise ships have strengthened prevention and control work. Xiao Ai said that starting from January 27, the ship has disinfected the ship and recommended that all staff wear masks, measure their body temperature every day, and send disposable gloves to employees, requiring them to wear them during work.
However, Xiao Ai is still a little worried. The boat is crowded, and "many people don't wear masks, and there are elderly people in the casino." What she fears most now is hearing someone coughing.
After ending its Taiwan tour, the World Dream returned to Hong Kong early in the morning on February 5. According to Hong Kong Radio, staff from the Port Health Department of the SAR boarded the ship for health quarantine. Before the quarantine work was completed, all crew members could not disembark without the permission of the Department of Health.

Early in the morning of February 5, the "World Dream" arrived in Hong Kong. Employees watched the cruise quarantine of the SAR Port Health Department staff through the on-board TV. Photo provided by the respondent
Port Health Department employees collected health application forms for more than 1,800 passengers and more than 1,800 crew members on the ship, learned about the symptoms, and conducted temperature checks for each person. Preliminary data shows that three people claimed to have had a fever but had subsided. One of them tested positive for influenza B. All three people have been sent to public hospitals for isolation and testing for new pneumonia. As of now, no results have been announced.
Xiaoai told the Beijing News reporter that late at night on February 4, the crew members were called on the ship to hold a meeting and notify that after all passengers were disembarked after quarantine were completed, the "World Dream" would be suspended and all staff would be quarantined on the ship by then. Currently, they are still waiting for the results on board. Xiao Ai said nervously, "Now, I just want to know if these three people will be diagnosed."
