An eSIM bug spreads across iPhone models and randomly disables iMessage and FaceTime. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said he encountered the issue when connecting to his T-Mobile account, although accounts from other carriers had the same issue.

A SIM card allows your phone to connect to your mobile operator. An eSIM is a digital SIM card that is connected to the phone's motherboard and is activated by calling the mobile operator. The first iPhones to use eSIM were the 2018 iPhone XR and iPhone XS.
Gurman expressed his complaints in a tweet: "There is a very nasty iPhone bug that causes iMessage and FaceTime bound to this phone number to be accidentally disabled in the device, and there is no way to reactivate it. The only solution that works The solution is to buy a new physical SIM card, which is a very disappointing problem." Gurman said that as far as he knows, the vulnerability caused chaos on iOS 15.4, iOS 15.5 and iOS 15.6 beta 1.
Others report that they are experiencing the same issue even though they are not T-Mobile customers. They also mentioned that in addition to buying a new physical SIM card, disabling the eSIM and re-enabling it seemed like a good idea, while others just enabled the new eSIM. Another Twitter user explained what happened to him.
This error does not only occur in the United States. The same thing happened with Airtel in India. He made various attempts but was unable to activate the eSIM card. In the end, he had to replace the physical SIM card to solve the problem.
