After the death of Emperor Daizong of Tang in 779 AD Emperor Dezong of Tang Li Shi ascended the throne. After he ascended the throne, he appointed the financial manager Liu Yan , reforming the past and strengthening the new, and the world was peaceful, and the vassal states dared not act rashly.
Liu Yan was framed by the court official Yang Yan , and his body and head were different, and the court lost a good minister.

Dezong was overjoyed. Later, someone revealed that this was fake. Dezong was not angry, but said, "I would rather be deceived a hundred times, but I would like to be true once."
So, four more people who claimed to be the queen mother were brought into the palace, but the Zhen empress dowager still had nowhere to be found.
At that time, various vassal states were eager to move and wanted to shake the throne. Dezong wanted to take the initiative and ordered the replacement of the leaders of the four major vassal states.
This move triggered the rebellion of the vassal kings. Zhu Tao , Tian Yue , Wang Wujun , Li Na and others were good at establishing kingdoms, calling themselves lonely and widowed, and competing with the court.
In 781 AD, Dezong dispatched Jingyuan troops to attack the rebels. After repelling the rebels, Dezong refused to reward his soldiers, causing a mutiny, and the Jingyuan soldiers turned around and rushed to the capital.
Dezong regretted that he was too stingy and was busy distributing two pieces of cloth to the soldiers. The soldiers became even more angry and rushed into the capital.
Dezong fled to Fengtian with thousands of people in a panic.
Two days later, Zhu 文 proclaimed the emperor and raised troops to besiege Fengtian. Fengtian was trapped, and Dezong was forced to use wild grass to fill his hunger. After one month, the siege of Fengtian was lifted.
After five years of melee with the vassal states, the situation eased, and Emperor Dezong no longer dared to mention the withdrawal of the vassal state.
Dezong has always been famous for his greed for money. He levies heavy taxes and even the dead have to pay taxes to satisfy his selfish desires. People sell land and houses to pay taxes, and complaints are everywhere.
In 805 AD, Emperor Dezong died at the age of 64.
