The left-handed clerk Yi Yan Ting memorial and advised him that this move was exhausting the people and the money, so Emperor Xuanzong canceled the activity.
However, in the late Kaiyuan period, he misused the treacherous ministers Li Linfu and Yang Guozhong , and was deceived by the flattery of An Lushan , causing the " Kaiyuan Prosperous " to decline.

The next morning, Xuanzong fled to the west with his concubine Yang Guifei, his ministers and thousands of personal soldiers.
The soldiers of the imperial army were in danger when they saw the national crisis. However, the treacherous prime minister Yang Guozhong encouraged Xuanzong to escape. He could no longer bear it and killed Yang Guozhong and forced Yang Guifei to commit suicide. Seeing that something big was wrong, Xuanzong had to give up Yang Guifei and let her hang herself to death.
Xuanzong left the prince Li Heng to suppress the rebellion and fled to Chengdu himself. Li Heng went north to Lingwu ascended the throne, and was appointed Emperor Suzong of Tang and respected Emperor Xuanzong as the Supreme Emperor.
In 758 AD, Xuanzong returned to Chang'an from Chengdu. In the past, I still vaguely saw things and thought of people, and I felt extremely sad. In 762 AD, Emperor Xuanzong passed away suddenly at the age of 78.
