In fact, the location of Tanshan Town Government is not in Tanshan Village, but why it is called Tanshan ? It sounds quite familiar. The location of the Tanshan Town Government is actually called Yangpitan, but there is actually a Tanshan village ten miles away from Yangpitan, which is called "Xiao Tanshan". Tanshan Village has been merged with Fanshan Village since 2003 and has been renamed Balongmiao Village. If you want to find the foundation of Tanshan Town , you have to start with Tanshan Village.
During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, Ming Dynasty moved the people of Hongdong County, Shanxi to Yunyang. A group of people from the Tan surname entered the current Balong Temple, and since then the place was named Tanshan Village. Later, the Tan family was not strong and was replaced by the Zheng family here, so the name of Tanshan Village has been used. In the early days of liberation, the township government was located in Houhe Village, five miles away from Tanshan Village. However, the township mayor Zheng Xuemin and the chairman of the Farmers Association Zheng Quanfu were both from Tanshan Village, so they were named Tanshan Township, which was under the jurisdiction of Meipu District at that time. In 1972, a flood occurred in Tanshan's jurisdiction, destroying the Tanshan Township Government located in Houhe Village. The township government was forced to move to the current Langmenshi Village, and still used the name Tanshan Township. In 1987, the district was abolished and the name was not changed. Later, Tanshan Township was renamed Tanshan Town, and Tanshan was fixed. Tanshan Town is located at the junction of Hubei and Henan Province. It is known as the "hometown of Chinese meters of topaz ". It is a key border trade town in Hubei Province. The town has an area of 120 square kilometers, and the arable land area is 266.676 hectares, with more than 320,000 people in 18 administrative villages and 84 villager groups. National Highway 209 runs through the entire town, Taohe and Danjiang River surround both sides. It has convenient transportation, obvious location advantages, outstanding characteristic resources, and beige jade is well-known in all directions.
In recent years, the Party Committee and Government of Tanshan Town have adhered to the overall development idea of "Yucheng, Water Town, Green Village", insisted on relying on characteristic mountain and water resources, and unswervingly pursue scientific development and independent development. The path of leapfrog development Economic development has made great achievements in 2008 and was awarded the title of "Five Good Town Party Committee" in the province from 2010 to 2011.
