Recently, the meme of " Wang Baochuan digging wild vegetables" has spread all over the Internet, and Wang Baochuan is even nicknamed the "master's breast" of love brain by netizens. In history, there are no two characters, Xue Pinggui and Wang Baochuan. Their prototypes are Tang Dynasty legendary generals Xue Rengui and his wife Liu family (folk legend is named Liu Yinhuan).
So, what is the real Xue Rengui like? This starts with an unfinished grave relocation.
In November of the 18th year of Zhenguan (644), a young farmer in Xiu Village, Longmen County, Jiangzhou was planning to move his ancestral tomb outside the village. Before the formal start of work, his wife persuaded him to stop him, saying that the emperor is recruiting warriors to fight against Goryeo. A real man should put his career first. When he succeeds and becomes famous in the future, he will come back to do this. Wouldn’t it be even more glorious to his ancestors? After hearing this, this person felt it made sense, so he took the initiative to come to the Longmen County Armed Forces Department, reported his name, and became a glorious Eastern Expedition warrior. The name of this person is Xue Rengui, and the wife who is very wise and righteous is Liu. As a legendary general in the history of the Tang Dynasty, Xue Rengui has a high appearance rate in folk stories and film and television dramas. Putting aside the "digging wild vegetable stems", if we look at history carefully, it is not difficult to get a glimpse of the legendary life of a generation of war generals.
Xue Rengui's courage was rare throughout Tang Dynasty .
Xue Rengui's ancestors were famous generals of Northern Dynasties. Later, his family fell into decline and he had to make a living by farming. His wife, Liu, is said to be from Hedong Liu, which is a very prominent family in the Tang Dynasty. Gaozong , the uncle of Wang Empress , , Liu Shi , and the great writer of Tang , Liu Zongyuan , are all famous figures in this family.
After participating in the Eastern Expedition, Xue Rengui showed his brave and ostentatious side on the battlefield.
In the 19th year of Zhenguan (645), in the battle of stationed in Mount Taizong, Tang Taizong 3 used genius military deployment to surround 150,000 Goryeo Army with 30,000 military personnel.
When the battle was in full swing, the sky suddenly shone lightning and thunderously started to rain heavily. Xue Rengui appeared in white robe and white armor. He had a war horse under his crotch, holding a long halberd in his hand, and quivered on both sides. He drew his bows from left to right, and shot his arrows without any slightest attack, killing the enemy so hard that he could overturn the horse. In the end, under his encouragement, the soldiers annihilated this enemy army that was five times more than they were.
Even Emperor Taizong of Tang noticed this brave young man. Later, when the army returned to China, he specially called him to talk and said:
"I don't like to win Liaodong , I'm happy to win you!"
The performance of this war made a footnote to Xue Rengui's life's fighting career, that is, he is brave and good at doing things, and can fight tough battles.
Xue Rengui's courage was rare in the entire Tang Dynasty. I am afraid that only a few people can compare with him, including Qin Shubao , Yuchi Jingde , Li Cunxiao , etc.
Before the Tang Dynasty destroyed Goryeo, it launched a total of 7 wars (3 big ones and 4 small ones), and Xue Rengui participated 4 times. Because he is so famous, it is usually a manifestation after encountering him in Goryeo - fear.
Xianqing In the third year of Xianqing (658), when Xue Rengui attacked Goryeo, the Tang army encountered a strong enemy.
At that time, there was an archer in the Goryeo army who shot and killed more than ten Tang soldiers in a row. For a moment, the Tang army was very frightened and no one dared to move forward. At this moment, Xue Rengui shouted loudly and rushed over. Incredibly, this archer may have been intimidated by Xue Rengui's aura, and was so scared that he couldn't even lift his hand. The bow and arrow fell directly to the ground, but he was captured alive by him on the spot (the thief's bow and arrow were missing, and he could not hold his hand, so he captured alive).
In October of the first year of Longshuo (661), Xue Rengui went north to quell the Tiel tribe rebellion. This was of course another wonderful personal force performance by him.
At that time, the two armies met in Hangaishan , which is called Tianshan in ancient history books. Before the war began, the Tiel army sent dozens of fierce knights to challenge.
We must know that the reason why the Tang army is powerful is not because of its powerful single-soldiers' combat, but more because it relies on advanced weapons and equipment, strict training and discipline. When it comes to fighting alone, they may not be opponents of the nation like Tiel.
But if the enemy sends someone to challenge, the Tang army may have to fight. Because when the two armies are facing each other, not going to fight is equivalent to admitting defeat, and admitting defeat will affect morale.
What would Xue Rengui do?
While the soldiers were waiting for the order, Xue Rengui shot out an arrow, and an Iron Knight fell off his horse and died in an instant. Before the two armies could come to their senses, another arrow passed by with the fierce wind, and the second Tielle warrior was also shot to death. At that time, Tieler was already silly, but before he could escape, Xue Rengui shot the third person to death.
Three arrows, three people, arranged clearly for you, and sent them directly to the King of Hell. Because Xue Rengui is extremely capable and can pull a hard bow, his range of bows and arrows is far beyond ordinary people's imagination.
The Tielites collapsed. Under great fear and chaos, they actually dismounted and surrendered to the Tang army.
This is the origin of "The general's three arrows are set against the Tianshan Mountain, and the soldiers' long songs enter Han Pass". This incident sounds very much like a folk story, but it is clearly recorded in historical books.
To a certain extent, Xue Rengui's action changed the history of
Another feature of Xue Rengui is his deep connection with the emperor.
Emperor Taizong of Tang liked this person tiger general from the bottom of his heart. After returning to China, he immediately arranged an official position for him - the right leader Lang General. This official position belongs to the imperial guards, and the place he guards is called Xuanwu Gate. This kind of role is impossible to hand it over to him if it is not a hardcore confidant.
It is said that Xue Rengui and Emperor Taizong of Tang are already close enough, but no one would have thought that his relationship with Emperor Gaozong of Tang would be closer.
YonghuiFifth year (654), in early summer, Emperor Gaozong of Tang left Chang'an and went on vacation to the palace in nearby Linyou County. As soon as I lay down at night, I fell asleep deeply.
A disaster approached quietly at this moment.
Late at night, a heavy rain suddenly broke out in the sky, causing mountain torrents. The flood rushes out from the mountains and goes straight to the foot of the mountain. The end of its stop is the emperor's palace.
At that time, Xue Rengui and many guards were on duty at the gate of the palace. Many people immediately ran away when they saw that the situation was not good. Xue Rengui roared, "You are all soldiers on duty guards. How can you leave your post without any trouble?" After saying that, he ran to the palace while wading in the water, climbed onto the door beam, and shouted loudly inside. The entourage in the palace heard his shout and hurriedly woke up Gaozong who was sleeping. Emperor Gaozong got up from the bed with a sudden excitement and quickly came out to find a hillside to take refuge.
Not long, the flood flooded the roof of the bedroom in front of him.
Xue Rengui achieved an unprecedented achievement at this moment and became the emperor's savior. Emperor Gaozong was also a man who was grateful to him. He gave him a royal horse as a gift and said gratefully:
"Fortunately, I would have been drowned!" (Let him call him, but I didn't drown, and I knew that there were loyal ministers)
To a certain extent, Xue Rengui's action changed history. If Emperor Gaozong was drowned, the Datang behind him might look completely different.
Since then, Emperor Gaozong has been particularly good to Xue Rengui, and he won the battle and rewarded him! If you lose the battle, forgive me! I have the opportunity to perform, I will give it to you!
It is worth mentioning that Emperor Gaozong of Tang and Xue Rengui seem to have some fate in the dark. His life was saved by Xue Rengui, and he and Xue Rengui also died in one year. In the second year of Yongchun (683), Xue Rengui and Emperor Gaozong of Tang died at the beginning and end of the year respectively.
The general passed away on the battlefield, which is the most perfect curtain call. If there is no accident, Xue Rengui's fate will be smooth sailing, and he will become a rich man like Guo Ziyi and spend his whole life leisurely.
But in many cases, the setbacks endured by heroes and achievements are inseparable two sides. The greater the contrast between the two, the more impact they are, and the easier it is to impress them.
In Xue Rengui's combat career, there is an indelible shadow in his heart, which is The Battle of Dafeichuan .In August of the first year of Xianheng (670), Xue Rengui led an army of 100,000 to set foot on the vast snowy plateau and attacked Tubo .
Since the death of Emperor Taizong of Tang, the Tang Dynasty and Tubo have become competitors from allies, and have repeatedly fought for , Anxi, and the four towns of Anxi. Emperor Gaozong of Tang was also a man with some ambitions, so he simply sent Xue Rengui to the plateau to make a fuss and defeat Tubo in one fell swoop. This can be seen from his title, the Grand Chief of the Marine of the Lossah Road. Luosa is the capital of Tubo, now Lhasa.
According to Xue Rengui's military deployment at that time, the chance of the Tang army winning was very high, but unexpectedly, the deputy general Guo Daifeng disobeyed the military order. When he went out to fight, he left the base with his baggage without authorization. As a result, he was ambushed by the famous Tubo general Lun Qinling and the entire army was wiped out.
Xue Rengui had already won the battle at that time, but he learned that the baggage was lost. He had no choice but to bring the remaining troops to Dafeichuan to fight Lunqinling. Because he was waiting for his work, he had 400,000 troops, and as a result, he was almost wiped out.
This is the biggest failure of foreign wars since the founding of the Tang Dynasty and the most regrettable one. After the war, Tubo became a powerful enemy in the western region that competed with the Tang Dynasty. In the hundreds of years since then, they caused countless troubles to the Tang Dynasty.
After returning to China, Emperor Gaozong showed mercy to the savior and did not punish him severely, but was just a demotion to the people.
But Xue Rengui's misfortune was more than that. After a few years, he committed another crime and was exiled to the city of Xiangzhou, becoming a prisoner. It was not until five or six years later that Emperor Gaozong remembered him again, and re-empted him and sent him to fight against the rebellious forces of the Eastern Turks.
The Turks at that time were very interesting. Before the war started, they suddenly asked, "Who are your generals?"
Xue Rengui answered on the spot: Xue Rengui is here!
The Turks were shocked. Among the tribes around the Tang Dynasty, no one was afraid of this war god, but they all thought that Xue Rengui had already died of exile.
At this time, Xue Rengui took off his helmet. The Turks were stunned. I don’t know if they were too admiring or too scared, but they even dismounted and saluted Xue Rengui.
Xue Rengui did not give them a gift and ordered the army to launch an attack, pursue and attack relentlessly, completely annihilated the enemy. On the way back to the triumphant journey, he suddenly died of illness at the age of 70.
general passed away on the battlefield, which is the most perfect curtain call. Looking back on Xue Rengui's life, it is really a legend. He has had countless highlights and experienced all kinds of ups and downs. Then, in the last time of his life, he finally found himself with a refreshing victory.
There were many famous generals in the Tang Dynasty, and their contributions were not less than Xue Rengui, but their stories were not as much as those of Xue Rengui, because he had an extraordinary heroic spirit. The general's three arrows set the Tianshan Mountains, and the soldiers sang to the Han Pass, how magnificent!
