  The Yuan Dynasty belongs to the Tubo and other departments, and the Xuanwei Department was under the jurisdiction of the thousand households and the 1,000 households in Jishi Prefecture and the 1,000 households in Guide Shou Yu. The Qing Dynasty belongs to the imperial envoy to handle the affairs of the Qinghai Mongolian Apostles and the Xunhua Department. In the 18th year of the Republic of China (1929), the Tongren County was established. In the 29th year of the Republic of China (1940), most of the two counties in Tongren and Zeku and are under the office of the Seventh Inspector General of Qinghai Province. Henan still follows the old system of the Qing Dynasty and is ruled by the Mongolian princes, and Jianzha area is ruled by the Guide County .
 In the third year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1370), Hezhou Wei and Bili Wanhu Mansion were established as Bili Qianhu House, which governed the nomadic tribes in southern Huangnan. In the eighth year (1375), Guide was changed to Guide's thousand households, with 10 towns under it, and now there are 7 of them. In the first year of Xuande (1426), Tongren and Zeku areas were now treated by Longwu Temple, Longwu Living Buddha, and gradually formed a unified rule system in Regong area. During the 2nd year of Wanli (1537-1619), the Huangnan region was controlled by Honsabatur, the Tumote tribe of Mongolia. In the fourth year of Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty (1726), the Minister of Service was appointed in Xining, and the current Henan County was controlled by the Minister of Service. The current Tongren, Jianzha and Zeku areas belong to Lintao Prefecture, Gansu Province, Xining Prefecture, , Hezhou Prefecture, Lanzhou Prefecture, , and Guide Office and xuhua Office respectively. In July 1929, Qinghai Province was established by Gansu Province, and Tongren County was established by Xunhua County, and now Henan County is directly under the jurisdiction of the province. In 1937, the province established the Seventh Commissioner's Office in Longwu Town, which governed the two counties of Tongren and Tongde.
  The Huangnan region was liberated in 1949, and the Tongren County People's Government was established on September 22, 1949, and the Tongren Tibetan Autonomous Region was established on March 17, 1952 (county level, changed to a county in July 1953). On July 3, 1952, the Jianzha Tibetan Autonomous Region (county level, changed to a county in July 1953), and the Tongren County was established. On September 30, 1953, the Government of the Government approved the establishment of Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Region (prefecture level). The People's Government of the Autonomous Region was stationed in Longwu Temple in Tongren County, with the jurisdiction of Jianzha, Tongren and Zeku; it was officially established on December 22, 1953. On July 28, 1955, the State Council approved the rename of Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Region to Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. Henan Mongolian Autonomous Region was established in October 1954 (county level, renamed autonomous county in June 1955). In January 1959, with the approval of the State Council, the original provincial-level Xunhua Salar Autonomous County and Henan Mongolian Autonomous County were managed by Huangnan Prefecture. In December 1962, Xunhua Salar Autonomous County restored its direct provincial status. In 1964, Henan Mongolian Autonomous County, which was originally under the provincial jurisdiction and entrusted to Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, was renamed Henan Mongolian Autonomous County. In 1987, the Lijiaxia Administrative Committee (county level) was established. In 2002, the Lijiaxia Administrative Committee was abolished.
 October 15th every year is the anniversary of the founding of the autonomous prefecture.
  On March 19, 2001, Qinghai Provincial People's Government Qingzheng Letter [2001] No. 21: ① Revoke Xiaderi Township, Zeku County, and establish and name it Zequ Town (the town government location remains unchanged). ② Zhihoumao Township, Henan County was abolished, and established and named Youganning Town (the town government location remains unchanged). ③ The three townships of Kampra, Duoga and Zhigang Laka in Jianzha County were abolished, and the Kampra Town were merged (the town government headquarters was located in Lijiaxia ); the Jiarang Township was abolished, and the
was merged into Marktang Town. ④ The two townships of Tongren County, Baoan and Maba were abolished, and the Baoan Town was established (the town government was located in the original Baoan Township).
  In August 2006, Huangnan Prefecture: 1 new town was added, and the total number of towns was adjusted from 35 (7 towns and 28 towns) to 32 (8 towns and 24 towns).
 Tongren County: Yalang Township was abolished and incorporated into Longwu Town.
Zeku County: Chakeri Township is abolished and merged into Zequ Town; Duofushun Township is abolished and Maixu Town is established.
Henan County: Toyema Township was abolished and incorporated into Youganning Town.
