Wang Yangming

Zhang Juzheng

The three great men, capable ministers and loyal men, are all extremely talented people. Why do they all end so tragically? The reason was determined by the system of the Ming Dynasty, and to put it more deeply, it was determined by the feudal social system.
When a minister's ability and power, especially the power of the prime minister, threaten the emperor's authority, even if only the emperor thinks so. The imperial power would directly or indirectly suppress the power of the prime minister (the chief minister of the Ming Dynasty's cabinet was actually the prime minister). Even if he had no strength at the time, he would still have to settle things after his death (such as the treatment of Zhang Juzheng). Why does
do this? This is the necessity to emphasize the imperial power and the absolute authority of the feudal ruling class.
Although Wang Yangming, Yu Qian, and Zhang Juzheng had no selfish motives and tried their best to assist the dynasty, under such a system, they would inevitably become victims. From the moment their talents were revealed, it was destined to end like this. Feudal rulers would only use their talents. When the crisis was over, they would tear off the mask of kindness and kill them ruthlessly.
This is actually not a tragedy for three people, but a tragedy for the entire feudal society. The inherent form of rule of the feudal ruling class is to continuously strengthen the interests of the ruling class. When the contradiction between the people and the ruling class is irreconcilable, the overthrow of feudal society becomes inevitable.
