For graduate students, whether full-time or part-time, they need to pass the national graduate entrance examination (i.e., exam) to be admitted. They have graduate degree and master's degree when they graduate. There are six main differences between full-time education and part-time education.
1. Different learning periods.
Full-time means you can devote yourself to your study and research, usually in a university or research institution. Part-time means you don’t need to take leave to study at a graduate institution, but instead attend classes mainly on Saturdays, Sundays, summer and winter semesters, with free learning the rest of the time.
2. Different diplomas.
full-time and part-time graduate students can both obtain two certificates, namely a graduate degree and a master's degree. The difference is that the word "part-time" will be displayed on the degree certificate of part-time graduate students. The term should not be underestimated, but it distinguishes between two academic degrees.
3. The registration subject is different.
Full-time graduate is usually new college graduates or graduates who have not yet entered the labor market, and they have little work experience. On the other hand, formal graduate studies are mainly aimed at college graduates who have already been working, often in order to improve their qualifications in the current workplace, obtain promotions, position assessments, increase wages or acquire new knowledge, and they may have clear purpose of studying for graduate students because they already have work experience. Postgraduate study provides a clearer and more focused learning purpose.
4. Different professional choices.
Full-time graduate students can apply for and study all master's and master's degree programs, while non-full-time graduate students can only apply for some master's courses.
5. The cost of learning is different.
The tuition fee for full-time graduate students is much lower than that for part-time students, and there are some scholarships that only full-time graduate students can apply for, which are not available for non-full-time students.
6. The degree of social recognition is different.
Full-time and part-time students both take the exam and enter the school, but due to different admission scores, different study time and effort in the school, their social recognition is also different. Although the Ministry of Education has always required employers not to discriminate against full-time and part-time education when recruiting, the reality is that full-time graduate students will undoubtedly be more competitive in the employment market.
