Introduction (My two application seasons):
Waterloo: Last year, I was in a hurry to go to graduate school. I got the GRE+ documents+recommendation letters+online application in a month and a half. The directions were all top DS projects. I thought I was okay in my undergraduate degree, but the application results would definitely not be too bad, but the result was Quanjude. In summary, although GPA is not all, it can be said to be the most important part of the study. No matter what undergraduate degree (US bachelor's degree), the results of high GPA will definitely not be too bad. I learned the lesson this year and went to study abroad very early, striving to excel in everything except the unchangeable GPA. The facts proved that SBIM also helped me do it. More importantly, my trainer in Shibimeng, who took me, was tireless and calmly analyzing the problems for me when I was in a state of mood, so that I could take a breath of pressure from work + application.
Highlights of choosing the World Bi Meng:
School selection is the most helpful thing for me in Shibi Meng. When I applied last year, I didn’t have time to find directions and projects. This time, the World Bi Meng team led me to explore and summarize. My experience in bringing students with my trainers and mentors at Shibi League gave me valuable information to make choices correctly and objectively, and to avoid the recurrence of tragedy. At the beginning of the application season, I adjusted from the initial stats and DS application directions to all CS projects. Although it was the king of the book, the teachers in my guidance team in the World Bi Meng also gave great support to pursue my inner thoughts and give professional advice. The direction adjustment is to combine the opinions of the team trainer and Stanford Mentor seniors and my own career plan (my girlfriend is studying for a postgraduate degree in the United States). In the future, I plan to continue my DSS or transfer to SDE related work in the United States, so at the beginning of the application season, I adjusted the team for me, and my documents and materials were also transferred from statistics and data science to computer related. The new Mentor senior graduate graduated from CMU and is currently working in the United States, so I also have a lot of professional papers and suggestions for my goals.
Recommendation letter
This is the most surprising plus point. This year I got a recommendation letter from our school’s big tutor. The process is actually a simple wording. I thought there was nothing possible, but I didn’t know that it would happen if I didn’t try it. One thing that needs to be noted is that the number of students in undergraduate schools is very large, and neither I nor the professors communicate with them alone, and I thought it would be difficult to ask for a letter of recommendation. It is recommended that all professors who take A, A- courses can try a set of words. The polite requests will not make the professors disgusted because this is part of their work.
American engineering applicants please pay attention! visa!
The earlier the better, don't drag it. After the epidemic in Shanghai ended this year, I flew to Guangzhou. I thought I could pass the 8 American visas with me, but when I heard about my major, I still checked it in seconds. Fortunately, the signing was issued in the end in 30 days, otherwise the subsequent plan might be delayed. Therefore, it is recommended that you must prepare your visa in advance. Generally, checking is about 1 month. You can search on Xiaohongshu by yourself (many students will update the information online, which can be used as a reference, but you don’t have to be too anxious)
Conclusion
Shibi Meng played a crucial role in my application season this year. Although I chose the half-package package (DIY guidance) I do the work to fill out the online application myself, but for me the most important It was the strategic advice given by my trainer and team mentor in the World Bi League. It was something that I could not obtain from my own cognition. I believe that everyone has their own exclusive experiences and goals. For example, during my undergraduate studies, I experienced many entrepreneurial projects, including direction exploration. During my first year of application, I was also constantly internships and work (even found a job that combines my interests - music and computer capabilities). This also allowed me to regain my concentration and confidence on the road to keep moving forward. Application itself is not a particularly difficult thing. For most American undergraduate students, but as a pilot of the career stage, I also felt the improvement of my maturity and cognition this year compared to last year. I believe that these will bring positive feedback to my next stage. I still have to thank my trainer and mentor in Shibi League for giving me corresponding support and objective suggestions in a state of uncertainty. The entire cooperation process made me not only limited to the preparation of application materials and the control of the process, but also gained some confidence in future plans and clear self-growth.
Although, I summarized my two application seasons in total, good things are a long way to go. Another thing is that my undergraduate degree is in , California, , graduate degree in Illinois, and my girlfriend is an undergraduate degree in Illinois. I am also destined to be destined. Lol. I believe that all students who are serious about preparing and working hard will get the results they are satisfied with. Let’s continue to work hard this year!
