The author lives in a small fourth- and fifth-tier city. I have three colleagues whose children are all excellent. They were admitted to 985 or 211 universities. After graduation, two are in Beijing and one is in Shanghai. Some have entered private companies, some have worked in state-owned enterprises, and some have Get into the system. In the eyes of outsiders, outstanding children are something they can show off, but internally, their happiness index may be at a discount. Perhaps the happy life of the previous generation must be sacrificed so that the next generation of their children can truly integrate into the city.
On the other hand, children are not particularly outstanding. They can take the first or second degree exams or study in the province's public-funded normal school, etc. The children return to their hometowns to find jobs and stay with their parents. House prices are relatively cheap and do not require the accumulation of several generations. For For the children themselves and their parents, the happiness should be quite high.
In life, particularly outstanding children will inevitably become farther and farther away under the watchful eyes of their parents, fluttering their wings, drifting away from their parents, and their fate is shallow; while for children who are not outstanding, their parents will continue to care for them day after day. As we age, we feel their importance and necessity. Perhaps this is the contradiction in life. There are too few perfect things after all.
