Most temples enshrine the Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. What we usually see are four-, eight- and forty-armed statues of Guanyin Bodhisattva, but statues of Guanyin Bodhisattva with a thousand hands are very rare. But the Thousand-Hand Guanyin enshrined in the Yuantong Hall of Shengshou Temple really has a thousand hands.

Shengshou Temple is located on the right back side of Baoding Buddha Bay, 15 kilometers northeast of Dazu District, Chongqing. It is integrated with the famous Baoding Stone Carvings. The prototype of the Dafowan statue is engraved in the temple, which is the blueprint of the Dafowan statue. The Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara statue carved on the top stone is very similar to the Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara statue in Shengshou Temple.

Shengshou Temple was built in the Chunxi period of the Southern Song Dynasty. It was founded by the famous monk Zhao Zhifeng. It is a tantric Zen temple. Most of the existing temples were built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Shengshou Temple can also be regarded as a thousand-year-old temple, and the majestic stone archway seems to tell its long history.

Go through the archway, walk along the corridor, turn left at the end, and come to the mountain gate of Shengshou Temple. The Shanmen building is antique, with double eaves, black tiles, and upturned eaves, revealing a rich historical charm everywhere. There is a plaque hanging in the lintel, with three powerful characters "Shengshou Temple" written on it.

The Tianwang Hall of Shengshou Temple is very unique. It is on the left and right sides of the courtyard behind the mountain gate, and there are two heavenly kings enshrined on each side. They are the king of holding the country in the east , the king of growth in the south, the king of wide eyes in the west and the north the king of hearing .

The building facing us is the first palace on the central axis. There is an ancient building with carved beams and painted beams standing on the platform. There is a front corridor, octagonal exquisite lamps hanging under the eaves of the corridor, and the word "Fushou" on the red base wall. The most eye-catching thing is a huge plaque above, which reads "Shengshou Chanyuan" and was inscribed by Zhao Puchu.

If you look carefully, you will find a plaque with the name of the palace "Dishi Palace" above the huge plaque. This hall is not found in most temples, so go and pay your respects.

In the center of the temple is the Emperor Shitian, who is just like the Jade Emperor . He is wearing nine chapters of robes, a crown of twelve rows of beads, holding a jade , and the golden boy and the jade girl serve on both sides. There are also many statues of gods enshrined on the left and right sides of the temple, including Wenchangjun, Guansheng Emperor, Dragon King and so on.

In the Buddhist niche behind Emperor Shakti, there is the Dharma protector Skanda Bodhisattva, wearing a crown and armor, holding a demon pestle standing on the ground. There is a couplet on both sides: "There is a cause, there is an effect, there is Bodhi, there is nothing right and nothing wrong." No worries”. You can offer lamps here, write your name, illuminate your future, and burn away your worries.

Opposite the Dharma Protector Bodhisattva is the Mahavira Hall, which is the second palace on the central axis. With double eaves on the roof, red windows and black tiles, and exquisite carvings, the building is magnificent and full of ancient charm.

In the center of the temple is Sakyamuni Buddha, with his hands tied in the Buddha's seal, sitting in lotus position on the lotus throne with a solemn expression. He bows before the Buddha statue, making people lose all distracting thoughts and feel a sense of awe.

There is also a golden body of Amitabha Buddha at the back of the temple. His right hand hangs down to guide all living beings, and his left hand holds a lotus flower on his chest. He "reaches out long to pick up Saha guests and accompany him on the road, and he stands for a long time waiting for people in the world to join together." May all living beings be able to walk with the Buddha and have complete merits and virtues.

The third temple on the central axis is the Third Buddha Hall. In the center of the temple, Maitreya Buddha , Sakyamuni Buddha and Lantern Ancient Buddha are enshrined. They all have golden bodies, sitting in lotus position on the lotus throne, with a peaceful and peaceful expression, which makes people feel very friendly.

There are also painted statues of Eighteen Arhats with different expressions on both sides. Looking at them makes people feel happy and peaceful, and they can't help but visit them one by one.

The temple also houses Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, wearing a crown of five Buddhas and a cassock with a compassionate expression.If the hell is not empty, I swear that I will not become a Buddha. Only when all sentient beings survive can I realize Bodhi. Namo’s Great Wish Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Mahasattva !

There is also the familiar Jigong Living Buddha at the back of the temple. The expression is joyful, the cassock is flowing and lifelike, and a sense of intimacy arises spontaneously.

There is a Guanyin Cave up the stairs, in which Guanyin Bodhisattva is enshrined. This place is simple and elegant, and seems to have a sense of age. It should be a sacred place of spiritual miracles.

Above Guanyin Cave is the fourth temple on the central axis - Yuantong Hall. The temple is dedicated to the famous Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara, with its golden body and dharma. Behind the Bodhisattva are thousands of Buddha's hands , which have vast supernatural powers and can save all living beings. Namo is the Great Merciful and Great Compassionate Guanshiyin Bodhisattva.

Next to the Yuantong Hall are the Sonsong Hall, the Wealth Hall and the Medicine Master Hall.

Along the steep steps between the Medicine Master Hall and the Temple of Wealth, you can reach the highest point of the temple, Vimalakirti Peak. There is a stone carved statue of Vimalakīrti lying in bed inside the hall. " Vimalakīrti Sutra" says that he is proficient in Mahayana Buddhism . Even Manjushri Bodhisattva , who is famous for his wisdom, admires his wisdom and eloquence.

In history, it is known as "the one who goes up to Emei and the one who goes down to Baoding". This shows the value of Baoding Stone Carvings and Shengshou Temple. This is a holy place for Buddhists to worship and a good place for meditation, prayer and meditation.
