In fact, children's programming is just like children's art and children's dance , it is just an ordinary interest class. Although may really take exams in the future, it is only subjects like physics and history. The school can teach it, so the exams will not be difficult.

The three most common languages in children's programming are: Scratch, Python and C++.

Many of my relatives and friends' children are learning programming, including my daughter. According to my observation, it is common to see that parents let their children learn children's programming in these 4 categories:
(1) Other children are learning, and my children must not fall behind;
(2) My children are very interested in computer programming, mathematics and other subjects, I support Maintain children's interests and develop;
(3) I hope that children can cultivate logic and computing abilities through learning programming, which can help them in daily learning;
(4) I hope that children can embark on the path of information science and enter prestigious schools through shortcuts;
My daughter is interested in learning programming and requires them to learn. I often support what children like, as long as they have enough energy to learn, so I have made a summary based on the above 4 purposes.
- Category 1 Purpose: Blind follow-up learning
Parents with this purpose, I really don’t support parents to let their children learn children’s programming, and it is not even recommended to participate in any interest classes, because such Blind follow-up learning cannot really learn useful knowledge.
For example, yesterday I learned painting, today I learned piano, tomorrow I learned programming, what other children learn, what their children learn, and what they learn, and during the learning process I fished for three days and two days of drying the Internet. This will only make children lose interest in all fields.
- Category 2 Purpose: Just like to play games
As a parent, you should communicate well with your children to understand their interests and characteristics. Do you really like programming, or do you like the "vast illusion" brought by programming?
Because many children say they "like programming", they actually just like playing computers or link programming with electronic games. To put it bluntly, they just like playing games.
It is undeniable that making and game-related content can indeed attract children to try programming, but making games is not the whole of programming. Anyone who has learned programming knows that truly useful programming must involve complex analysis and calculations.
If the child just associates programming with "I can play with computers", he will inevitably deviate from the original intention of learning. In the end, the child plays games openly under the guise of learning programming. Aren’t parents shooting themselves in the foot?
- Category 3 Purpose: With a try-through mentality
As far as I know, most parents are Hand with a try-through mentality Let your children learn programming. This type of parents generally believe that there is no harm in learning anyway. After all, there is no need to suppress your skills, especially in this high-tech era. Maybe it is a way to make a living in the future.
Moreover, if you win the prize, it will be even more icing on the cake. For this type of parents, I think children can try it, but they should communicate with their children in advance, and should also let their children clarify the content and goals of their learning.
There are many parents around me who, if they think it is good, directly sign up for their children. As a result, their children are passive and lazy in class, parents waste money, children waste time, and teachers waste enthusiasm.
- Category 4 Purpose: Take shortcuts to let children go to prestigious schools
The country has added students with scientific and technological expertise. If children participate in the Informatics Olympics and win awards, they will get the policy preferences of junior high schools and high schools and the opportunity to be admitted to prestigious schools. This is also one of the reasons why children's programming is becoming more and more popular.
However, the threshold for to go to prestigious schools through the Informatics Olympics is very high . On the one hand, children must achieve certain qualities, and on the other hand, they must be prepared for a long-term war of resistance. has to worry and spend money, not to mention that this shortcut cannot be successful casually.
In general, children can learn programming, but it does not mean that every child is suitable for learning, but two aspects should be considered: one is whether the child is interested in programming; the other is whether the child has enough energy to learn.
So, if you also want your child to learn programming, you can take the child to experience it first and see if your child is interested in programming. If you want to experience it, it is important to choose a suitable programming training institution. If you choose the wrong one, it will cause your child to lose motivation to learn.
