It is reported that the new monitoring station is based on the R&S UMS compact radio positioning and monitoring system, equipped with a new combined monitoring and direction finding antenna. The antenna includes an active/passive mode switch for adapting to different environments, as well as horizontal and vertical polarization of electromagnetic waves signals. Malaysian regulators plan to conduct on-site acceptance tests in March 2023.
In addition, the solution also supports remote detection mode. Rohde & Schwarz claims it "promises to become a key regulatory tool for planning and utilizing Malaysia's spectrum resources."
