These vulnerabilities will allow hackers to remotely access users' private data. Hackers can run arbitrary code and spoof interface addresses. Hackers can even run denial of service programs remotely on victims’ devices.
Cert-IN pointed out in its suggestion that several Apple iPhone and iPad running versions before iOS 16.1 and iOS 16.0.3 are vulnerable to cyber attacks. This issue also applies to devices running iPads prior to the latest version 16.1.
In iOS system, versions before 16.0.3 have security vulnerabilities. When it comes to actual devices, both the iPhone 8 and the product range are affected afterwards.
In terms of iPad, it includes Pro models, Air 3rd generation and higher, and standard models of 5th generation and higher. It will also affect the iPad mini version 5 and later.
The invasion is very serious. It exists because of some security controls in the AppleMobileFileIntegrity component. Attackers can exploit these vulnerabilities to convince victims to open special files or applications on their iPhone or iPad.
These files look good on the surface, but the underlying code includes the firmware that activates the code. If an attacker successfully accesses the victim's device, it is possible to "harness these vulnerabilities to allow the attacker to access sensitive data" and do anything else.
We extend to review what updates brought by iOS16.1 and iPadOS16.1:
