But do we really fully understand what Beidou system is? In fact, many people have more or less misunderstandings about the Beidou system. Someone asked me that the newly purchased mobile phone display supports GPS, Beidou, GLONASS and other navigation, but he couldn't find the place where Beidou was set when he opened all navigation software. Some people said that because they couldn't find a place, they went to the app store to download an APP called " Beidou Navigation " but found that it would cost 20 yuan.
Therefore, the so-called "foreign GPS is free, while Chinese Beidou still charges". On October 23, 2022, I wrote another copy about Beidou, but I found in the comment area that someone really left a message saying: "Chinese people who use Beidou navigation themselves must first activate and pay the fee." Some people left messages saying, "Why is it still GPS displayed on my phone after Beidou came out?", and some people said, "I have never used Beidou navigation." I only realized after seeing these comments that some people still haven't figured out what Beidou is.
Beidou is an satellite navigation system independently developed by my country. So what does GPS mean? Although some of us often talk about GPS, we may not really understand the meaning of this word. GPS is the English abbreviation of Global Positioning System, so the original meaning of GPS is global positioning. Strictly speaking, whether it is the US global positioning system , China's global positioning system or other countries' global positioning system, they all fall into the category of GPS. However, global positioning technology was the first to start, and it was named its global positioning system GPS.
The United States' GPS system was put into the market for a long time, and almost all countries had used the system, and the United States at that time basically achieved monopoly in this field. This also makes the word "GPS" have both broad and narrow meanings: GPS in a broad sense refers to global positioning; GPS in a narrow sense specifically refers to the US global positioning system. Since my country's Beidou system is essentially a satellite navigation system, it actually belongs to the broad category of GPS. The GPS displayed in our mobile phones does not specifically refer to the US version of GPS, but is compatible with the four major positioning systems in the world.
In fact, we don’t need to worry about whether the “GPS” or something on our phones are displayed, because we have actually started using the Beidou system for a long time. The successful launch of the final star of Beidou in 2020 marks the final completion of all networking work. This means that the Beidou navigation system truly has global coverage, but before that, some of Beidou's functions have actually begun to be applied. Currently, there are four major global positioning systems in the world, including the United States' GPS, Russia's GLONASS, EU Galileo, and China's Beidou. In addition, India has its own IRNSS satellite navigation system and Japan has its own "quasi-zenith satellite" system, but these two satellite navigation systems are regional navigation systems that have not yet achieved global coverage. The positioning supported by Xiaomi mobile is: Beidou: B1I+B2a 丨 GPS :L1+L5 丨 Galileo: E1+E5a 丨 GLONASS: G1 丨 QZSS: L1+L5 |AGPS, etc. A few years ago, the world's four major positioning systems signed an agreement on civil information sharing: the four major systems work together to serve the world. When our mobile phones receive the satellite signal, which satellite signal is the strongest among the four systems, it will receive which satellite.
If the Beidou signal is weak in your location, then the positioning device in your hand will automatically convert to GPS (narrow sense) navigation; conversely, if the GPS (narrow sense) signal in your location is weak, then the navigation device in your hand will automatically convert to Beidou navigation system; sometimes it may also convert to Russia's Gronas system or the EU's Galileo system. In fact, it does not require manual intervention in the positioning system of mobile phones. During the navigation process of mobile phones, multiple navigation systems will be used to jointly locate. This means that when navigating with a mobile phone, there is no need for manual intervention to choose a specific system.
If a satellite in a certain area does not perform well, the positioning device will automatically choose to use another navigation system for positioning. Therefore, when using navigation, we do not need to download Beidou navigation specifically. We just need to continue to use the original Gaode Map , Baidu map, and Tencent Map, because they all support Beidou system. This is the answer to the question of "How to set up the Beidou system when the mobile phone supports it" that some of us are puzzled. The answer is that you don't need any manual settings at all. It turns out that you just need to continue operating like that, how you navigate.
You might as well think about it. We usually use Baidu map , Gaode map and other APPs to navigate. So have you seen Baidu launch its own navigation satellite? In the past, when we didn’t have Beidou, we used GPS (narrow sense) to navigate. But has anyone seen what the GPS APP looks like? The navigation apps with the word "Beidou" in the mobile phone mall are actually all charged money from the pockets of ordinary people with the Beidou sign. The positioning of large trucks recorder is actually somewhat similar to the mobile APP: although the merchants who produce truck positioning recorders give themselves the name "Beidou", they actually have no direct connection with the Beidou satellite.
In fact, if you don’t install these so-called Beidou maps, Beidou navigation and other products like “third-party” companies, it will not affect your use of the Beidou system. Which system positioning is mainly determined by the hardware facilities of the mobile phone. The focus here is to emphasize which system to use depends only on the hardware facilities and has nothing to do with which map software you download on your mobile phone.If you used Gaode maps, you still use Gaode, and you still use Baidu maps. Don’t download those third-party software that you have to charge. It's enough how you navigate before and continue to do that without you having to re-set it.
