Microsoft plans to add Android 13's capabilities to Windows 11 as part of its future roadmap - which is part of an initiative to add more elements from Android as a whole to the operating system.
These features are listed as part of the update for Windows 11 developers, where Microsoft also promises to improve file transfer, shortcuts, in-picture and local network access by default. It follows recent updates, which include enhancements to File Browsing, among other improvements.
Android 13 is the latest operating system publicly used by pixel mobile phone users. According to PC Magazine, this is an iterative update that builds on Android 12 with "more complex materials you design, convenient multitasking tools, and cross-compatibility with Chromebook and Google tablets" and other features.
The compatibility of Android 13 released earlier this month is currently limited to Google Pixel series phones. The operating system should be available via other phones later this year.
compatibility with Android applications was one of the features touted for Windows 11 when it was first released last year, although they were not available at release. They are able to run due to the Intel Bridge compiler, which helps them run on x86 systems. The addition of Android 13 features should further deepen this integration.
