On Wednesday, UL Solutions introduced a feature update to the 3DMark benchmarking software - fully supporting the performance evaluation of Intel Xe Supersampling Technology (XeSS for short). For 3DMark Professional Edition customers, if your annual license is still valid, you can upgrade your experience now. Unfortunately, customers with an old permanent license still need to purchase a new annual license before unlocking the XeSS feature testing option.

It is reported that 3DMark provides functional tests designed for different methods, operations or capabilities. With the newly introduced XeSS inspection tool, users can easily compare frame rate/image quality before and after XeSS is turned on (vs native resolution rendering).
Xe Super Sampling is a newly launched graphics technology by Intel . It uses AI enhancements to improve performance while taking into account the fidelity of images. XeSS generates each frame at a lower resolution and then uses AI stretching to achieve the target output resolution. During the

test, 3DMark can generate the "Port Royal" benchmark scenario twice. First generate a time-based anti-aliasing (TAA)-based picture, then render at a lower resolution + enable XeSS stretching, and the result evaluates the performance difference as a percentage of the average frame rate .
In addition, the Frame Checker tool can compare XeSS with pictures rendered at native resolution, and users can render up to one hundred consecutive frames from functional tests and can be freely translated or enlarged 32 times.

It should be noted that to run this new test, a graphics card compatible with XeSS/Microsoft DirectX Raytracing Tier 1.1 must be installed on the system.
includes Intel Arc and AMDRadeon series GPUs, as well as the NVIDIA GeForce product line that supports Shader Model 6.4. In terms of
software, the 3DMark XeSS benchmark needs to run on the 64-bit Windows 10 20H2 (or later)/Windows 11 operating system.

This feature is currently integrated into 3DMark Advanced Edition, and users who purchase the 3DMark license after January 8, 2019 can also get updates for free.
Interested friends can move to the official website to view details about 3DMark updates and upgrades, and purchase a new version through Steam or directly through UL Benchmarks.
