In recent years, the myopia problem among children and adolescents in my country has become increasingly serious and the trend of younger age is obvious. How to establish a scientific concept of myopia prevention and control and achieve scientific and sustainable prevention and control of myopia in children and adolescents has always been the focus of attention of the Pengpu Town Community Health Service Center in Jing'an District, Shanghai.
In 2022,
The center innovatively launched the
"Prevention and treatment combined with intervention in pseudo-myopia in adolescents" project. The
project uses activities such as going to campus and integrating into the community to popularize knowledge about scientific eye use for the general public. While improving everyone's understanding of myopia prevention and control work, it arouses parents' awareness of protecting their children's eyes. The project has also won the 2022 Jing'an District Community Health Feature Service Project.

The neglect of vision problems by adolescents and parents, the weak technology of school teachers in intervening in myopia, and the lack of effective intervention measures are all the reasons for myopia in adolescents. In addition, changes in learning and lifestyles such as home, online classes, and children and adolescents have significantly reduced their outdoor activities, and the use of electronic products has increased sharply, laying hidden dangers for vision health.
Pengpu Town Community Health Service Center, as a community health service center affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, has undertaken a number of municipal and district-level projects and has rich scientific research experience. There are more than ten schools within the jurisdiction of the center, including Yonghe Primary School and Chenggong Education Experimental Primary School. Among them, there are five schools within a 5-minute walk of the Yuanping Road station of the center, covering kindergartens, primary schools, junior high schools, high schools and universities.

Prevention is the key to the vision problems of children and adolescents, and early detection and intervention should be carried out. It is reported that by going to campus and integrating into the community, the center has explained to children and parents the causes of myopia, the harm of myopia, how to prevent myopia and scientifically control myopia, so as to cultivate young people to develop good eye protection habits and effectively reduce their overall myopia incidence.
At the same time, the Community Health Service Center Yuanping Road Station relies on the construction of Shanghai Traditional Chinese Medicine Specialty Demonstration Community Health Service Station this year, and has added magic mirrors, physical identification instruments and other traditional Chinese medicine interactive equipment to embed small techniques and massage techniques to protect vision and prevent myopia, combine education and entertainment, and guide more residents, teachers and students around to participate in the team to prevent myopia in adolescents.
In schools or communities, the project helps young people develop correct lifestyles and eye-using habits by making simple and interesting short videos, lectures and popularizing science, and establishing interest groups. It effectively improves the importance of young people on vision protection, laying a certain foundation for reducing the eye clearness and myopia of adolescents.
At present, the center has 13 traditional Chinese medicine doctors, and the project working group is equipped with traditional Chinese medicine, Western medicine (ophthalmology background), nurses and public health personnel, which comprehensively protects the promotion of the "combination of prevention and treatment intervention in adolescent pseudo-myopia" service project.
