According to the news released on the Macau Special Administrative Region Government website on June 30, a batch of mango samples imported from Taiwan tested positive for the new coronavirus nucleic acid on the 29th. The Macau Municipal Affairs Bureau immediately launched the emergency response plan and packed 20 boxes weighing a total of 100 kilograms. All the goods involved were sealed and destroyed and did not flow into the market.
The Macau Municipal Affairs Bureau also thoroughly disinfected the surrounding environment where the goods were stored, and submitted the information of people who had come into contact with the goods to the health department for investigation and follow-up. Effective immediately, the import of products from the same source of the involved manufacturers will be suspended for one week.
According to media reports such as Taiwan's "Dongsen News Cloud", Taiwan's "Agricultural Committee" responded on July 1 that it would only conduct inspections on whether there are harmful organisms on the plants. Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said on June 15 that the customs will increase the nucleic acid testing of the new coronavirus on Taiwan’s imported cold chain products and their outer packaging to strictly prevent the risk of imported new coronavirus pneumonia and effectively protect the health and safety of the people.
